I apologize for what might be a silly question, I'm looking into how to neck down 243 brass to 224 with out expensive dies. Would it be possible to buy a $20 set of 22-250dies and cut it in half and just use the neck portion to resize the neck of the 243 ?my thinking is size the body in my. Reg. 243 dies then neck size in this contraption. If that has no chance of working any inexpensive ideas on how to do it?
Thanks for any advice.

Hornady makes a universal neck sizer die the is caliber specific, that are about $20. I don't believe your 22-250 idea will work ok for you.

I used a 22-250 AI die to neck size down. Kurt

Doesn't look like the hornady die will work. Seems like it isn't big enough for the shoulder diameter of 243. The 22-250 was the widest it said it would fit.

Also lee makes a 22-250AI die set for <$40. Yay project 22-243 is one step closer to a 5000fps green light

the middlestead is a 22-243 that doesn't require reaming the neck. You will need to turn or ream the necks if it isn't throated for the larger neck thickness.
