Need to pick the brains of my fellow reloaders,
Tried a new load of 4.4-4.6 wsf with a 124 gr lead bullet,oal 1.065,
had serious keyhole problems out of 2 proven pistols with a proven bullet,
switched back to my regular load,no problems, tried the wsf load again ,same problem.
no leading, right size bullet, manual says 4.2-4.7.what could the problem be?

We need more info. If it's the Lee 124 gr. TL, that's a common problem with the boolit being swaged undersize in the brass.

it is the 124tl,but it only does it with this load.also using the same crimp.

WHat is the velocity of the new load compared to the Proven load? Stability of a bullet in a given twist rate is not only controled by bullet length but velocity as well. Also at what distance were you shooting them at? You may just need to up the charge a little to get in the sweet spot for that bullet

My thoughts also, just looking for some conformation.i am near the top of the recommended load but it sounds flat, also after some research it seem some are loading this powder 5 gr or more.
shooting at 10 yards and the bullet is the 124 tc not tl.
