Looking for some input on this issue. Loaded 100 rounds of 405 hardcast flat nose in new starline brass. Gave half to my pal, he and I both have newer 1895 marlins. Neither gun will chamber this load. The bullits have marks have marks half way around from contact with the lands. C.O.L 2.532

You learned a valuable lesson. Always try to have your rifle at hand to check the first loaded round to see if it chambers. You are going to have to seat the boolits deeper. You may get away with having the hardcast lead boolit ogive just touching the lands as that will sometimes give you the best accuracy.

Although my 22" bbl'd. Marlin #336/1895 (Microgroove) will handle cartridges as long as 2.67" if single loaded (70gr. FFg), I've found little difference in accuracy between those marked by the rifling and those seated "normally," which in my rifle is 2.55" OAL. As knife maker advised, seat the CB's a bit shorter until they chamber easily.

I like some engraving of the nose by the rifling I then know it is helping align things.
now a round that won't chamber is indicating you got a dimensional incompatibility, or a shape discretion.
