I am looking for information on a pistol I found on Cabelas web site. It is listed only as Remington Rider Pistol. The description says it fires with percussion cap only and no powder. It fires a 4.3 mm lead BB. I am considering buying one but I am interested in knowing more about them. Any info would be appreciated but I especially want to know the velocity.

Saint:

It is a knock-off of a little all-metal novelty type .17 cal. derringer Remington made 'way back when (around 1860). Originals are scarce, and VERY pricey; but as a firearm it ain't much. Velocity is probably in the BB-gun league at best. I'd post a photo of a photo, but Photobucket is being "sticky" lately. Look up "Remington Rider Single-Shot Derringer" in Flayderman.

To quote from a gunsmith I talked to once about a 32 short. "They are best used to hunt field mice in a phone booth". The gun is a novelty with little practical application but dangerous if taken too lightly.
