View Full Version : What gun are you?

Me? I think I'd be a PTR 91.

Here's why:

It's robust and solid, but not going to win any beauty contests.

Designed in Germany but made in America, just like me.

Powerful, but not magnum level.

A true original design, just like I strive to be.

It can feel a variety of rolls, from sniper rifle to SAW with the right accessories.

Not overly high priced, but not hardly cheap either.

Time tested in a variety of situations, similar to my life.

Easily identifiable and visually distinctive.

Can be fed a variety of diet and still keep running.

Would be extremely handy in a zombie apocalypse.

What would you be?

Don't do this to me.
I tried to think this morning and got a charley horse in my brain.
If I try to think again and get another charley horse I don't know
what will happen, I never had it happen twice in one day.

Well used 1953 Browning Light 12. Lots of bluing worn but a nice patina that doesn't require a lot of shine - downed a lot of ducks and doves over the years. Been dropped, scraped, banged and shot more than you'd think a gun could stand, but still dependable. Other than a couple of minor replacements like a new ejector, still original equipment. My best friend is wd-40, clean and lube with just a couple of sprays. Oh the stories I could tell.

There I was, larger than life...

It was 2014 and I was getting ready to leave Nevada. I wander into my favorite gunstore, and what do I see? A pair of NIB tec-9 pistols. For some unknown reason, I have always wanted one.

I got to jaw-jacking with the man at the counter and he offered the pair to me for $300 out the door. I said no, and have regretted it ever since. It would have been so cool double fisting tec-9's at the range.

My trusty old well used M1A. Its on its fourth barrel the heavy bishop walnut stock tells a story with the dings and scratches. Rifle took me to high master and never let me down ( although I might have let it down a few times) Its just all the memories and time spent with it.

That wasn't a bad price - having done my UZI and a friends Mac-11 Arnold style you ain't going to get groups to brag about but you will get a grin that's hard to get rid of.

I guess I would be an M-1 Garand.

A little old and heavy, kinda beat up over the years, maybe in need of a few replacement parts, but still able to reach out and connect, stubborn sticking to my original chambering, and kinda proud of my accomplishments.

Rem. 870 wingmaster 12ga.

Kind of an all around general purpose firearm, can do most anything, but not an expert at any. And just like the 870 I inherited from my Dad, that shot countless rounds of trap over a 25 year period, my knees are just as wornout as the shell latches on that old gun, and often fail when the heat is on.

Iver Johnson .410 break open single shot....A little uncommon but familiar just the same. I don't throw much shot but I could probably still take down butterflys and very small birds. Of course I don't make much noise or fuss either. I am expensive to feed and quite particular in what I like. No one appreciates me until some nasty job needs to be done and a simple solution is needed...

Just like others, 1911.

A few "parts" replaced, a couple repaired, overall "slightly worn", but still functional. Show a few battle scars (dents, dings and scratches), could use a "reblue" but that would take away all the character. In need of new set of sights.

At that rate you only got 25 ACP and 22 LR to go!

Well, there's also............way down the line........CB caps & BB caps!
Sometimes I feel a little like mebe a 22 short but, of course, in a rapid fire rifle like mebe a Winchester Model 90. Be still my heart, certainly not one of those new-fangled "automatics!" Regards, Woody

I'm like my old Northwest trade gun. Known to go off half cocked at times, kind of smelly when working, a bit rough and rusty around the edges, but get the job done.

I would probably be a 7-1/2" Blackhawk in .45 Colt or a Garand. Both for the same reasons- versatile, traditional, in for the long run.

I don't have one but I would probably be a Handi-rifle with a bunch of extra barrels. Rough around the edges and a jack of all trades. My wife would probably add cheap to the description, but I prefer economical.

I'm a Winchester 1886 in 33 WCF. Old fashioned, on the heavy side, and ammo is hard to find, but still works when needed.
