I was gifted two canisters of old Green Dot. The one was opened already, but burned just fine in numerous loads. I feel like I'm destroying a piece of history!

I just finished off a can of herco like that.
had to cut the top open to get it all out, it's a can, with powder, I can't shoot the can. [well I can but not make ammo with it]
shoot it up before it goes bad or gets old or sumthin.

Yeah, shoot it up and fill it back up with fresh Green Dot! Then sock it away for another 50 years!

On the old metal 8 pound IMR cans I used the can opener to remove tue top to get the last little bit out ( may have to use an old knike on the corners) The plus to this way was when done you had a nice neat trash can for under the desk or storage for brass or whatever. I have an un opened can of bulseye in the old square can with metal pop lid.

Anyone know the time frame this was made in?

sometimes the bottom or the label had a date code on them.
I'd guess at the 70's or so.

Before y'all go cutting up the old metal cans, it might be a good idea to double check the collector market. Many of the old cans are worth enough to buy a number of new plastic Wally World trash cans.
