I haven't gotten into the science of mettellurgy yet so I have a Q for some of you pros. I'm going to smelt about 120 lbs of cowws. If I add about 22lbs. of soft 1 1/2" lead pipe and a roll 50/50 solder....what do you think I might end up with for a BHN ?

Maybe 12 after it has aged a week or two. Should be useful for a lot of needs.
A bit more tin would be good too. Like adding 1 lb to what you have.
What are you going to use it for?

Love questions like this it gives me a chance to use the Alloy Calculator. Anyways it said Tin .77% Antimony 2.52% lead 96.5% and Hardness of 11.1 . Oh and I assumed 1 pound of solder.

Get the calc above and all questions like that will become clear as day!

No rocket science..........just plug in the numbers and play around until you get what you want.

To be honest..I didn't even know THAT existed. Thanks to all. It is on my desktop now and I have been playing with it. I don't have a clue how I missed it because I've been reading all kinds of info on here for awhile now. When I read replies to questions and you guys came right back with % of this and % of that gives you this...I was beginning to think you were all a bunch of geniuses.:D Who'd of guessed, a calculator?

the answer is yes it'll work just fine.
I wouldn't even bother figuring out the bhn [12ish] but your alloy is just fine.
