Went to the range this morning to test some 7mm. After i was done checked the brass bucket. Came home with 118 once fired Herters 7.62x54r. Is this good brass for reloading? i have not seen this head stamp on 7.62x54r before.

Just to be clear the Herters name is now used to sell newly made imported russian ammo for Cabela's. The old herters brass will be great for reloading.

Pretty sure it's new made brass. This is how it came out of the brass barrel. All nice and clean looking.

it was free, so one reload is a bonus.

"This ammunition is loaded by Sellier & Bellot,"
This quote is from the Cabelas, So I assume S&B made the brass cases as well, which is fine for reloading, but not "gold" IMHO.

If its actually made by S&B, may or may not get any use out of it. I bought 5 boxes of S&B 7.62x54r from the local gunstore so I had brass to reload. Unfortunately none so far will take a large rifle primer, primer pockets aren't deep enough. From what I have read its hit or miss, some is made that way, some to make standard primers. S&B can be odd sometimes, bought several boxes of their 22hornet. Flash holes are all to small, yea IF you can get em out they can be drilled, its getting them out thats the issue. Have one box left, I don't even bother tearing up decapping rods, just toss em.

I also ended up with 150 once fired LC 14 308 cases. Love those non reloaders. Have also gotten some .303 Brit But just a box or two.
