I am using a lee 4 hole turret press. I just bought a expander die. I am loading, 9mm, 40sw, and 7.62x54r

I am thinking
sizing die - powder thru die - expander die - bullet setter. crimping die on another press (lee hand press)

or

sizing die on another press (use one of my presses I use to size) on turret, powder thru die - expander - bullet setter - crimping

I use a universal decapping die to decap all my brass.

In 40 only I run a bulge buster/FCD in a single stage then toss them in a Pro 1000 which uses this order sizing, powder thru expander die, seat/crimp die. Works fine for me.

I would run the expander ahead of the powder thru die. The expander may get deep enough to "pack" or dislodge powder if already in the case. Size deprime die expander powder thru and seater.

Lee powder through is a expander skip the extra step.

Only in pistol calibers does Lee's powder through die expand the case. In rifle he would need a seperate expander die if he was loading cast bullets.

On carbide dies, I decap/size then tumble.
