I'm in a little funk as to what is available as a seating die for this bullet. It has a spire point and I don't want to crush it. I'm using Lee dies . If I take out the seating stem from it and use the "303" top punch for a 4500 it seems to fit. Most importantly it fits the profile of the bullet.
My question is this. Would this be an acceptable solution , or does some manufacturer make a seating die that would fit the profile of the bullet that I could buy.
thanks, Dan

I use RCBS dies, I exchanged the seating stem from a 30-06 die, put it in the 44 seating die and went on, worked very well, can you exchange a rifle seat plug into your 44 die?

I just got done trying to do my swap.. It didn't work with the top punch idea. I think I have a set of '06 dies around that I can try out. Thanks for the suggestion...I'm heading out for work but will update later this evening

Give NOE a shout, he has some funky "pins" or something that will work for seating it. He sells a mould like this for many diff calibers so he may have a few in stock.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked around last night after work for a '06 seating die , but I don't have one. Going to keep looking around.

You can make a custom seater with epoxy and you need to put a release agent on the bullet.

I use a Lyman seater with a 303 stem. Thats why I like Lyman dies for cast bullets. Stems used to be cheap for the odd ball stuff, not sure how prices are currently.

I ended up calling LYMAN and they actually had the correct seating plug for the die...$6.00 . I ordered two. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Dan

Hey Dan! Let me know how that mold works for you.. I have one that is a double cavity.. Casted perfectly using fairly soft lead.. I tried using harder lead 50% pure and 50% lino and it must not have shrunk enough in the mold when it cooled.. I had a hard time getting them to release out of the mold.. I think its because of the deep lube grooves.. just curious if you ever ran into a problem with hard lead in it.. thanks

I used a DC for years, hard alloy was a problem releasing, even after I lapped, then I found that I got all the penetration I needed with AC WW. No more hard for me.

kb3... I've made up 100 or so thus far..I used some range scrap lead I bought off a fellow on this forum. I did add a little more Tin though. I'm using a single cavity and while its a little tight it's been usable. The tight lube grooves I feel also contribute to hard extraction..I'm going to powder coat and see what velocity / accuracy I can get out of them. Guesser I agree with you on the alloy...I can imagine the problems that would cause..it's kinda shame ,but I feel that a softer alloy defeats the purpose of this bullet
