Milirary 30-06 headstamp

I just caught a Smith Corona 03a3 on GB, and started scrounging around for reloading components. I located a box of old military brass and after cleaning, I saw a headstamp that I am not familiar with.

It has " S L " with 54 on it. The rest of the brass is the usual Lake City with 52.

I do not have the capability to post pictures.

Can anyone tell me what the S L stands for?
