1 more year until I turn 60. My wife asked me yesterday when did I get so old! I told her I can't afford to be old yet, our kids are only 11 and 13, so I am going to ignore it. Time to go run! I hate running, so boring, and I have soooo many projects to do, but it has to be done.

Ollie Holmes (Chief Justice Supreme Court, years ago), on seeing a beautiful damsel during a walk with a friend, muttered 'Oh, to be 80 again...' - I finish my eighth decade in July, and my comment is 'Oh to be 70 again...'

Happy Birthday! I'm turning 37 in less than a month, but I still feel like a kid, for the most part, even with the responsibilities of a family, mortgage, etc. I guess I should finish growing up at some point.

You good, wait until you have to start singing that Jerry Lee Lewis song.......
" Thirty-nine and Holding ".

Just remember, you may have to get older but you never have to grow up!

My GRANDFATHER was 65 when my last uncle was born.

Keeping up with that kid is what keeps me young he said and he lived long enough to put Dan thru college and start his own business so i guess it worked for him.

Sure does just like my
Luger made in 1913
Win 94 38-55 model 94 rifle 1903 G F the Texas Ranger dad and me.
Savage 99 in 22 hi power 1913 Cousin and me

I am sure that 0 can chase who all have owned the Luger or the 1911 before me but I have owned both of them for about 50 years.

Somethings just get better with age.:Fire:

Thirty was roughly the age at which I had learned enough to be useful enough that people started paying me enough to live a comfortable life with a few toys.

My thirties were very, very good to me. I turned 40 last month. So far, they're not bad. :)

Happy birthday. I turned 36 very recently. 30 is nothing. The aches and pains started at 34. I don't see them going away ever. I agree about pay scale. My pay increased a lot when I hit my thirties. Trying to cash in as much as possible before I hit fifty and they start to see you as a liability. That one is trade specific.

Age ain't nothing but a number. I know I still think of myself as a young kid in a lot of ways. Especially when hanging out w/ long time friends.

30???? Are you children bragging or complaining? I've turned 30 twice, and almost half again.
My eldest aunt turned 100 two weeks ago, and she's still driving. 30 is just old enough to shave.
Happy Birthday to all you youngens. You'll get old soon enough.

30 was when I had to start carrying a pair of tweezers in the work truck for sudden nosehairs.

32 was when the ear hairs started.

Whippersnapper ! 30 is fine, after 50 is downhill, once you hit 65 you start payng the price for what you did to youself when you were 30ish !! Good luck with the next 30.

I'll be 73 in July. I still feel well enough to do just about anything that I want to do. Unlike some reported here I won't be fathering any more children. Two sons was enough.

At my age though, I can use old age to try to get out of doing anything I DON'T want to do.

Advice is free, and sometimes good.
1) Work hard. If you already work hard, work harder.
2) Save money when you can.
3) Stay out of debt whenever possible.
4) Find people that are smarter than you. Listen to them. If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.
5) play hard. Enjoy life.
6) Eat meat, vegetables, and good bread.
7) Go outside and play. Your parents were right, it is good for you.
Getting older is awesome. If you have worked hard, then you have more financial flexibility to play hard. I just turned 40 and am enjoying life immensely. I am by no means rich, but my bills are paid. I still like my job and barring major changes, it looks like this one will see me to retirement,,,,I hope......

I am 67 and have an 8 year old and a 9 year old, nope didn't plan on it just the way life worked out. I only get to see them a few days during the year and for a month during the summer, divorce the curse of the modern age. I am very happy they are in my life keeps me going or at least looking forward to the weekends I do have them.

There's more truth to that than meets the eye, i'm 32 and I bought a really nice nose hair trimmer 5-6yrs ago! I can't tweeze them buggers, they feel like they are connected to the back of my eyes and brain!

Maybe that's how you separate the men from the boys? Can you yank your nose hairs out without wincing? I have some growing up to do still!

Word to the wise... Have fun with life and make the most of it. My own motto is, "Do what makes you happy within reason". I'm only 32 but I have grown older in many ways. Since about 17-18 I started having back troubles. I've worked on cars all my life till a few years ago, from a very young age at the family car lot. I was rebuilding carburetors when I was 5-6! That line of work has been pretty hard on me. I think I also just drew the short straw on my physiology. I would hazard to say my back is as bad or worse than folks twice my age now and it's not getting any better, it's in pretty bad shape for my age. By all means have fun, work hard while you can so you don't have to later, i'm trying! But don't forget, the 30's, we are past the age of being rubber and will be paying for what we've done to ourselves from here on out. Be kind to your body, you have to live in it!

What was it like when the telephone was invented? How did you react to electricity and electric lights? Did cars scare you? Did you shake your head at the new fangled cars and tell people that they were a fad and the horse and buggy was better?

Did you ever get to meet Thomas Jefferson?

That's all I have for now, but I'll think up more.

I have been advised by nearly all of the many I had talked to about back surgery, that it was not advisable yet. I have spent quite a bit of reading up from what others have experienced and there seems to be about a 50/50 split between folks it helped and the others it didn't or made it worse. Also read plenty of folks that it was very short term. Not really the best odds to be honest. Its a **** shoot.
