wet tumble soap

in a effort to find a cheaper soap for wet tumbling than the Turtle Wax Zip Wash that i and many others had been using
i tried Meguiars Ultimate Wash Wax (http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g17748-ultimate-wash-wax/)
brass gets nice and shiny clean
primer pockets get nice and clean
and the wax seals the pores of the brass up so it wont tarnish right away like we have seen from naked brass
it also makes sizing pistol brass much easier
and no Lemishine needed

The other day I had a batch of 38's I had dry tumbled with walnut shells and 1 tablespoon of Bon Ami (no ammonia or chlorine). Cleans great, not real mirror shiny, but gets rid of all the curd and any darkening.

After a quick rinse in water to remove any abrasive cleaning powder, I gave them a squirt of Armor All, rolled them around in the big Glad container to lightly cover with liquid, and dried them on one of racks in my oven at 250F. It gives them a nice protective coating.

I think others in the past have mentioned your stuff as a good solution to clean in. I think I saw that stuff at HF the other day! Can you say 20% coupon? :-)

ive been tumbling in the HF rock tumbler

and in those drums i fill 2/3 brass 1lb pins water to the top of the brass (dont put to much water in or they dont tumble)
and about 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of the car wash
its real sudsy
and i run them for 2 hours or so

I use the Blue Coral wash as well after switching from Dawn and Lemishine, mostly for the bit of wax to stop tarnish and it was cheap.

the Lemishine has its place
but i see it as just added expense when headed down the wash and wax route

and sizing is so easy on the pistol brass now

There is absolutely no buildup after tumbling with wash & wax, and I have tried many different brands. Nothing but the bling....

I AM impressed with your Blue Coral results -- I've been using Lemonshine + Dawn + Armor-all Car Wash & Wax (Thumler's Hi-Speed w/ S S pins: 4 hours), but will surely switch out the Armor-All with some Blue Coral. Thanks for the suggestion re using Blue Coral -- as stated, the results speak for themselves!

Guys -

I think my post containing my wet tumbled 223s pic may have been deficient in that I DO use 1/4 TSP of Lemi-Shine per batch. Since the OP was concerned about cost, at 1/4 TSP per batch, a $3 container of Lemi-Shine is literally a lifetime supply.

I have wet tumbled without the Lemi-Shine. The result is completely clean brass but without that brilliant bling. See the pic. The batch on the left was tumbled with Lemi-Shine, and the batch on the right had none. All other factors were equal. Blue Coral was the cleaning agent.

I hope I've clarified.

I think I will start using the car wash soap for the added slickness. The ol Dawn leaves them kinda tacky.

Using Armor All wash&wax, citric acid, very hot water. No history on tarnish return cause I am just getting my DIY tumbler going.
