A bunch of years ago I bought a 50-BMG rifle and of course had to buy some powders to shoot in it. I purchased 8 pound jugs of T-5070 from Thunderbird Cartridge Company, Inc. and RVO-57 from River Valley Ordinance. Both of these appear to be the same ball powder by eye as both were pull-down 50 BMG powder. The question I have is, I also got some loading sheets for these powders for jacketed bullets in 338 Win Mag, 30-06, 6.5x55, 7mm Mauser and 303 British. I've tried these powders in these cases, especially the 338 Win Mag with heavy bullets, but never could get very good accuracy as compared to using IMR-4831. So my question is, since I don't fire the 50 BMG much anymore, what would be the techniques needed to shoot cast lead boolets in the more traditional military rifles I shoot like the 303 British, 7mm Mauser, 6.5x55 Mauser, 7.7 Jap, 7.5 Swiss, 8mm Mauser, 30-06, 7.62 NATO, etc. using these powders? Or is there not much I can use this stuff for in these smaller cartridges?
