It's a Lee 45 ACP - 84. It's too big to size or support the case but ,by eyeball, it excepts and in the same position as the FDC.
I'm just wondering if someone might know what it is or for . I will add that 45 ACP Wil drops through un touched. The description number is what is stamped on the body .

Like all such questions, best answer is to call Lee--maybe they'll even send you the innards.

I just thought someone might have one for reference. I suppose it can be anything I want maybe some nice part swapping neck sizer.

Could it be a body for a Lee "speed die"? One body with inserts to do the steps of loading. It was used in a press, unlike the original Lee Loader. I had them for several cartridges 25 years ago.

I think I have 3 or 4 different speed dies back at the ranch. Been awhile.

take care

ok well here's part of the pictures I sent to Lee to help ID the die .
The mouth is .500 with a .2 flat . It will except the internals from the known FDC taper crimp 45 ACP die.

Some glock shooters take the innards out of a factory crimp die and pass the loaded round clear through the die to size the entire loaded round to take out the "glock base bulge"

Lee says without pictures all that is certain is that it was made in 84 . .500 is a pretty loose number for 45 ACP that should be. 473 . Hopefully the mystery will be resolved by noon today. With a parts list suggestion .

Well there it is straight from Lee;

This looks like the Expander die. That is the only die with that configuration, of that time.
