I wound up with 2 unopened 1 lb. cans in a box of "stuff" for 1 price deal. What pistol loading use is there for this powder? I did some checking and am coming up flat for any data. I load from 9mm up to .45 LC and other cals. in between. My shotgun target shooting days are about past for using this powder that way.Robert

Great for .38 Special and .45 ACP wadcutter, load same charge weight as Bullseye. Used lots of it years ago.

It is/was my favorite plinking powder in 308...think 1100fps with plain base light bullet....Really good stuff but I have read it is temp sensitive.....

Yep! Same powder as Trap 100 (which I'm still working on shooting up all I had, got 96lb keg in a auction). It is temp sensitive...if you stay with mid-range loads you'll be fine but if you work up a max load in cold weather it'll be way over in summer heat. Look in '70s & '80s load manuals, you'll find plenty of loads for it listed.

I've used a lot of it in pistol cartridges as well, and even have an empty can on the shelf (no idea why). But it's been so long since I've seen any that I don't recall where to find data. It is a good pistol powder though, so just start low and work up to midrange loads.

Not sure but I may have some load data in an old Winchester book. I'll take a look.

I used up my last 452AA under round balls in my .44 mag. Marlin. Worked great for lightish loads running about 10 grs. under a 0.440" round ball sized to 0.434".

Heres a post where I asked the same question a while back. Lots of good responses: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?14108-Win-452-AA-Powder/page2

452AA is my go to powder for 45 ACP, I did however find out it is primer sensitive!

I use Federal std pistol primers but ran out once and substituted Federal Magnum pistol primers, it wouldn't print groups more like shotgun patterns!!

Under a Lee H&G 68 clone with std federal pistol primers I could get a 5 round group the size of a quarter at 25 yards

452 AA has been somewhat successful in the 44-40 rifle.

I was actually told it was exactly the opposite! If you work up a load in the summer when the temp drops pressures get a little squirrely. Might be worth checking out to be sure? I am also working thru 3 lb. caddy that was gifted to me 4.6 grains at a time in my 45 acp and 230 gr MP rn boolits. I will truly be sad when that powder dries up!

It only exhibits temp sensitivity on upper end. I miss it.
WST was to replace it. Not as good in handgun as T100/452
Went to 231/HP38 and never looked back.
