At work we have a wax that parts are dipped in to protect the finished edges. I haven't been able find a tag yet from the orignal package but they say its just a stripable wax. I was wondering if it would be of any use as a lube material.

maybe as a lube ingredient [modifier]
I don't think it would be a good base, I'm pretty sure it's just a paraffin wax with a low melt point.
that lower melt point , and parrafin's ability to go from solid to melted instantly] is where it's value would lie when used as a modifier.
if you do try it as a base wax an ester or mineral oil would be the actual lube, and you'll find yourself adding bees-wax to "build the lube up" and to add flexibility.

That would make sence, it sets up firm with an oil residue.
