Hope this is the right place to post this.

Got my Shotgun News today and they have a story about the New 6.5 Creedmore from Hornady.

This is the first I have heard of it though most lickly not new to wildcatters.

Its a 308 Win necked down to 6.5 mm. Sounds very interesting to me.

They are going for 1000 yard competitions with a factory Load. Anyone know more about it that can fill me in?

No they say it is different from the 260 Rem. I will check and see if I can find the story online.

I hope this link works. http://accurateshooter.wordpress.com/2007/11/07/hornady-introduces-new-65-creedmoor-cartridge/

If it don't go to Google and type in 6.5 Creedmoor

Basically we have a 260 Remington case with it's shoulders pushed around 2mm down from the stock 51mm to give it a longer neck to handle the longer heavier 140gr bullets for long-range competitors. They also changed the shoulder angle to 30 degrees to help with pressure as well.

It's like a compromise between the 260 Rem and the 6.5x47 Lapua cases. As a High-Power Shooter focus, it offers a lower-pressure factory cartridge to lengthen the barrel life (6.5x47 is notorious barrel burner) while providing that longer neck to aid in concentricity for accuracy.

Me - I'm sticking with my 260 Rem until I see a lot more of the cases on the Market. I prefer to not see only one source of supply. Monopolies have a habit of raising prices.

Just to resurrect an old thread...
I just have to let people know that 6.5 Creedmoor is starting to catch my attention since its lasted past the first couple of years and other companies are producing barrels, brass and dies.

I've got a LR Mauser barrel in 6.5 that I'll be cutting a 6.5 Creedmoor chamber in July once I have the gunbench re-established.

Bruce, Does it offer more than a 6.5x57 would? Other than brass which could be sized up from 6mm or 257 Roberts.

I have one mfg by savage 24' bbl in the camo model 10 hunter max I have only shot it using Hornady ammo 120 grain A-Max at 2900 fps and it was under an inch I shot twenty rounds to date and that was over a year ago. had some spine work done and have not been out shooting sense. my buddy shot four deer with his last year and others who have them say they will shoot much better then an inch . go to 6.5 creedmoore.com for lots of information for it. I think its a winner. Tom GD

I'm actually planning to run barrels in 6.5x57 and 6.5 Creedmoor this summer. It is nice to have multiple Mauser Actions to play with....Comparison shooting with my 6.5 Arisaka and 260 Remington will be a long-running experiment this fall. I may even take a page out of JeffinNZ's book and buy a 6.5 Carcano to mess with as well. I may buy a 6.5 Grendel barrel this summer for one of my ARs as well.
