As I was being the electric eye, scanning for things, I was looking at a 10mm Auto... The 10mm Auto made for the Bren Ten was based on the .30 Remington... Which is the parent case for the 6.8 SPC... 6.8 SPC brass is available, while 414 SuperMag is... not. 10mm Auto case length is 25mm, which works out to a paltry .992"

If we just got the 10mm Auto to a standard Magnum, the case would be @ 1.285" in length. If we went SuperMag, the case length would be 1.610 or so. This is all about me, and a .40 Mag in a Contender (or a .401 SM) would be a hoot...

This idle musing came upon reflection that .410-ish boolits are less common, while it seems .401-.403 molds are falling from the skies....

Hmm, I see a 10mm Magnum listed with a case length of 1.255" (31.88mm)

Is that based on the .414 SM, resized? Someone made .401 PowerMag cases by resizing 41 Rem Mag cases, then trimming them back.

I have a Ruger SBH Hunter and a Pedersoli Rolling block in 40-65 and have no problems with boolits or bullets. I would think that a .401 boolit that would hold up well at the velocities possible from your vision cartridge might be more troublesome to find.

It's a .375 Winchester case, probably could use a 30-30 case, but the .375 is inherently stronger.

The .30-30 case is probably strong enough for any pressures one would want to use with a cast bullet. 42-50K psi.
