Is Harris Books "Cast Bullets" still available from NRA? Or do I have to rob the graves of old timers to steal their copy from their cold dead hands?...........

............It's a shame too. What I especially enjoy is all the "Readers Write" stuff that's in there besides the scientific articles. I think the previous is the best part.

Fiberoptik, My copy was printed in October, 1982, but I wouldn't write to the NRA. Rather, I'd use Google to locate used book sellers and enter the author, title and ISBN on the various sellers' websites. Here's the author's name, book title and ISBN:

There were 3 "Annuals" put out by Wolfe (Handloader) in the early 90's. Some good stuff there too.

Many thanks to RugerFan, I now have a copy of each coming my way. I just hope the wife doesn't get the mail when they, or any of my moulds shows up! Funny how they "don't understand" when we NEED something, but when they "like" something, it's SOOOO different! :-P

"Gunsmith Kinks" from Brownells is another series I would not be without. Even knowing full well my own skills are seriously lacking and not liable to improve I am a real book monger and gunsmith type books are a real weakness. I do have enough knowledge to know "kinda why" or "exactly why" I should pay someone else to work on my guns now. I have a pretty decent collection of gun type books myself now and fully enjoy dragging one out to read several times over.
That Said,now in the Information Age and having the WWW available puts us at a tremendous advantage,those generations past had to rely on very few sources compared to us but that isn't saying they were lacking in real knowledge. That Generation came up with things such as TV's didn't they? :P

I believe Bill Ferguson of www.antimonyman.com had the Handloader collections, although I'm only aware of 2 magizines not 3. Wolfe did offer "The Art of Casting Bullets" hardcover book, one of which is up on ebay now.

4060MAY- Yup, I've got the 2 magazines type ones they did and "The Art of Cating Bullets". The 2 mags were the one you mentioned and the earlier '89 or '90 edition. Never seen any others. Wish they'd do some compilations from the past 15 years.

There were four cast bullet books by Wolfe.

1. The Art of Bullet Casting from Handloader & Rifle magazines 1966-1981

2.Handloader's Cast Bullet Special Eddition

3. Handloaders' Bullet Making Annual

4.Handloaders' Bullet Making Annual II

If there are more, I don't know of them Book #2 was probably the last in the series. I would seriously like to see Wolfe do a compilation of all of Al Miller's cast bullet articles. He knows his stuff.

The NRA cast bullet book is long out of print as is the only supplement I know of.

They may still be doing this, but new members to the cast Bullet Assc. get a special book on bullet casting that is in a word, "Excellent." I think you might have to go with a two year membership to get it, but their in house magazine has some very interesting articles in it. My feeling, when it comes to cast bullets is, try to find everything you can in print. Not all of it will be meaningful, but it aids the learning process. I've been casting for 51 years now, and I'm still learning every day.
Wolfe has a website, and you might be able to get copies of their books, but the NRA stuff, you just have to hit the used books market for those.
