okay we have all been scrambling for powder for the last little while.
here is a fun exercise to get everybody thinking just a bit.
you can order powder and get whatever you want.
but the catch is you have to order 100 pounds [or get none at all] what would your order look like?

I couldn't afford the order, I'd have to have ten friends.......
But probably would be similar to what I've been ordering, some of everything that you can use in 9mm......

this is kind of an informal poll, and an educational thread.
it was partly to see what we all use [really use] and would buckle down and stock up on if we had the chance.

100 pounds of powder is a LOT, but is it really all that much?
in a 9mm or 44 mag the difference can be up to 20grs of powder per round.
the difference between a 38 special using 3grs of bulls-eye and a load using 47grs of 4895 or 50sum grs of 4831 in a 30-06 makes a big difference in the amount of powder needed to shoot 100 rounds. [like 1 pound of bulls-eye versus 16 pounds of the other 2 for the same 1,000 round count]
of course shooting shot-shells will skew our answers [and 100 pounds of red-dot would be a drop in the bucket]

soo which powders do we really need 100 pounds of?

I used only those first three powders for a long time and they served me very well. Probably should have H335 for the ARs in there but oh well :)

I going to bookmark this thread because it says what powders really matter to folks. Also because while not as easy or as cheap as it once was it should be possible eventually to reach the quantities of the powders in many of the lists. Might take awhile but so does a good stash of lead, or a large collection of dies, molds or powder measures.

Maybe I'm an optimist but I think we might be getting past the "any powder that will work" and moving toward being able to sometimes get what we really want for a powder, with persistence and a little luck. At least things seem to be heading that way. Hope so because there are several powders I want to try a pound of before I decide how much of it I really want. W231 & H110 & BE come to mind. Seems that lots of folks had those on their lists too.
