While I picked up my anode rod for my water heater, I drifted back to the ammo section. Not bad, 22-250 40 packs for $32, 12ga 1 1/8 #8 Federal for 5.99, Winchester 100 pak of 12ga 1 1/8 #8 (IIRC) for $26... And more stuff. BUT... not even a shelf sticker for ANY rimfire. I grabbed a store worker and after brutal interrogation, he admitted that he hasn't even seen rimfire in a few months.

I did talk with a new cast booliteer, and he said he recently got Unique over at the Waukesha gun show for $25 a pound. Squeeze my eyes shut, and say three times - There's no powder like Unique, there's no powder like Unique, there's no powder like Unique, click my ruby red slippers three times, and POOF! 8lb jugs will show up in Cabelas' new store in Sun Prairie... right?

Our LGS yesterday, as usual, had only high priced target ammo and three 100 pk Rem. Yellow jacket @ $14. I bought one for my grandson to shoot, then on the way home berated myself for not having him shoot my 22 Hornet with cast loads. It is too long for him (5 years old), but that never stopped me when I was young.

A local on line auction house regularly has .22 ammo in their "guns & ammo" catagory. Last week there was a 10 lb. Rem. .22`s ammo pail that went for $185.00! This week has another pail that is up to $134.00 right now and goes till Mon. night. These pails were, I think, part of the opening sale "Geetchas`s" for a new Field & Stream store in Detroit promotion. The pails were being sold 2 to a customer for $65 each. So somebody is making a buck or two on these shells.Robert

There hasn't been any 22 to speak of for Years around here. I started A thread on it a while back but everyone said 'oh ya...they make but you're not there to buy it.' Between friends and family, we take in a large area and it is just not coming in -in volume anyway. A year ago a friend ran a large farm store. She said she would take a 100 cases and got 10 50 round boxes.

Someone is lying to someone...I don't know who....

I got two boxes of 50, Fed. Hollow Points at Academy last weekend for less than $5 a box. Did not have to stand in line, they had a few more boxes but 2 was the limit. They had primers but they were close to 4 cents a piece. A month back they had powder but I did not see any last weekend.

I just gave a younger coworker buddy of mine a 500 round box of Remingtons. He is recently married, still in school, a hard worker and was lamenting the fact that 22LR is impossible to find. When I gave the box to him, you'd think I'd given him a block of Au.

The local Ace had some RWS for $40/50! The local Cal Ranch had a Remington cleaning kit that came with 150 rounds of Thunderbolt and there were a dozen or so kits.

22LR is fun as all get out, but I quit worrying about finding it.

We found the Dodgeville Farm and Fleet had Yellowjackets at $14 per hundred. Limit one box, but gone now. Picked up a box, just because I could.

Farm & Fleet can be really strange sometimes. They appear to operate strictly on "First in, First out" inventory control and I've seen overpriced ($389/500) bulk packs of Federal .223/5.56 FMJs sit on the shelf, literally, for months while more reasonably priced 'new' stock turned over regularly. My retired BIL who works, part-time, for F&F in Wisconsin tells me that the stores aren't allowed to reprice merchandise on their own and have to hold 'non-sellers' for a period of time before they can return them to the main warehouse.

Local F&F hasn't even had a spot for 22 here for a few years now.
22 is showing up, but stores have limits.
Local Cabela's has been getting some in according to gun counter manager.
Also a local gun store we deal with has had CCI mini mags in stock lately, around $10 per 100.
Not great, but slowly getting better.

Went to pay my Cabela's card bill last night, and the amount/variety of powders they had was staggering! Didn't have everything, of course, but they had gobs of H110, W296, IMR4895, IMR4064, and many, many others. Even had a large stack of 500 packs of Remington Thunderduds .22lr. It was good to see.

Added 500 thunderduds to my .22 stash, I already have lots of powder. Would have bought some 3031, W231, HP38, or Unique if they had it though. Not hurting for anything, but nice to see it coming back. For now.....
