Hey fellas:
Can you use standard Winchester 209 primers in Chedite hulls?

The pockets are loose from the 616 primers, they recommend swaging them.

Ironically, the primers Cheddite sells here now are "American size", while a lot of their pre-primed hulls sold by BPI and others have the slightly larger "Euro size" primer. The difference is only 0.001-.002", but it is enough to matter. Using Fiocchi 616s or other Euro brand primers will take care of the problem. Apparently, Cheddite still makes the bigger primers, but only sells them in Europe.

I bought some Cheddite branded hulls and found that the primer pockets are indeed compatible with American primers. I also purchased some Rio hulls, which I believe are made by Cheddite, due to the extremely similar, but not identical headstamps. The Cheddite headstamps have four stars, each with a round dot in the center. The Rio hulls have stars with a smaller star in the center. It's a subtle difference. The Rio hulls definitely have oversized primer pockets and will not work with American primers without reconditioning.

Cheddite hulls are made in France.
Rio hulls are made in Spain.
Different companies.
