Gifted mystery .38 caliber 164 grain cast slugs. Name that slug?

At a range session today a good friend gifted me about 200 cast and pressure lubed slugs he picked up at a yard sale. They were $2 a hundred and he had thought he's melt them for casting but remembered I load .38/.357. I haven't seen the style before (still new to this) so I thought I'd ask for input. Specs are : 164 grains. 0,358-0.3585 inch diameter with lube. Length 0.728 inch.
SOme slugs in the opened box are missing some of the lube. Should I TL them as I do my own cast?
I don't know the alloy mix but they do scratch with my old fingernails. Guessing WW?
Look to be home cast because they are stored in old fishing split shot boxes.
I'd appreciate if anyone could identify them. I haven't seen loads yet for 164 grain slugs, so I need to look further. Here's two photos. Not the clearest but best I can do for now. Hope I don't find them to be tack drivers because I only have the 200. Thanks. Don

That looks like a Lyman 358311 .

if they are soft like real soft I'd go with that.
they used 40-1 alloy.

OK!! look in the articles . Now look at the old scratchy pic it`s number 23 , no descript other than "bullets for 357 magnum"

I knew it was an early IDEAL/LYMAN , just forgot where I saw it ! WRONG AGAIN !!!

To further complicate things for me, I cannot find load data for a 164 grain cast slug. Hmmm. They are too handsome to end up in the scrap lead pile. Don.

Use the data for the 358429 slug . what powder ya gonna use ?? 12gr. of 2400 would be a good startin point.

I run 12-12.5 under 158 gr. slugs to 187gr. rnfps thru my GPs no problems & nuttin unexpected over the chrony.

Looks like the 358311. I'd use the 158 gr loads and just go lightly. Probably softer lead.

The nose is too small for 358311, from the picture. It looks a lot like the old Cramer #33, but the weight is wrong. IIRC, Markell used to offer a similar design in the olden days.

There was a similar mould on ebay, not too long ago.

If those boolits are lubes, it makes sense that they weigh 4.0gr more than the 160gr Lyman 358311.

I can't really tell, is there a bevel?

Hey I appreciate the comments. Front to back, there's the flat point, the ogive, a short flat then a crimp groove (?), then one lube groove and a flat base. I'm beginning to wonder just how old these puppies are. Looks like in the open box some of the lube has dried up and fallen out of the groove in many slugs. Wish they could talk. Might have been one proud old-timer who made them.
I only use Trail Boss powder so far. I like the bulkiness of Trail Boss and can overlook the funky smell on firing. With 125 grain RNFP Le slugs and Trail Boss I shoot 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards from my wonderful little Ruger 77/357. The free slugs should feed well from the magazine too---something I can't say about SWC's. Don.
