PITA mold figured out

my wife bought me an lee 445-290 (thinking a costume) from a auction a few years ago. it is a lee minie type boolit. it was giving me fins all over the place mainly at the base. today I noticed there was a small gap. I tapped the sides, front and handles trying to seal the gap. with a gloved hand, I pressed on the bottom of the mold, bingo no gap. put that as part of my routine. before I knew it, I dropped 30 boolets in 10mins. very happy about that.

Putting a small amount of sprue plate lube on alignment pins/vee grooves and HB pin contact surfaces will help that.

I often close my moulds then lightly tap the bottom edge to ensure they are fully closed especially with HP and HB moulds.
