My hands were getting cramped working around my Dillon SDB and I hate changing from bullet to bullet as it's a PITA to get everything adjusted due to the close proximity of everything. I load 99% cast in my 45 Colt so I picked up some Hornady Cowboy Dies and figured I'd give them a whirl on my LnL.

For or the folks that have used them, how do you like them?

I have RCBS cowboy dies for 38-55 and they work well for me.

Did not know Hornady made cowboy dies. Might have to give them a look out of curiosity.

I just traded for a set but have not had a chance to try them out yet. They are supposed to be built specifically for cast bullet loading but proof is in the puddin'.

I will be interested to hear how they dimension their expanders. Stepped like the Lyman M, or a bigger diameter like RCBS.

The expander is elliptical and larger diameter, not stepped.

Any update on these? I want to try a set but it would be nice to hear a positive report or two first.
