Should be as good as mixing it with alox?

Whats JP?

If it is anything at all like Alox I don't see why it wouldn't work.

What the heck, give it a try. What you have done is add more wax to the 1-step. I would question whether just the wax would be sufficient for, say, a rifle barrel, but what do I know? GW

I don't know about as just JP for tumble lube but I did try it in a Lyman 450 and with .38's through a M15 it left a mess of lead in the bore stem to stern. Straight alox works by itself but is sticky messy. All the JP seems to do is get it at least mostly dry to the touch even if it does still leave a little build up in your dies. And all the solvent does is thin is down so it's less muck to deal with. You may be able to use JP/alox 50/50 in a lube press but beeswax/alox 50/50 is too easy to find. Unless you are just trying to be inventive but I bet someone has tried that combo already.

Aren't .22's just waxed?

pretty sure he means JPW: Johnson's Paste Wax. Has a lot of applications in boolit lubes.

Yes sorry Johnsons Paste Wax with Johnsons 1 step (60/40) for 800 fps up to 1250fps .(tumble lube). Viscosity varies dependent on JPW to Johnsons 1 step ratio. Bullets dry fast and not sticky.

Tempting!

Would add a bit of Carnauba to the mix.

That is one thing to be said about experimenting, never know if you don't try.

Most of my boolits are lubed with Liquid Alox....but for the past couple of years all of my .380 loads have been Tumble lubed with straight JPW.....and it has worked just dandy in 3 different .380acps.

All my handgun ammo has been tumble lubed with straight JPW for 30+ years I have shot as many as 500 rounds of home cast lead bullets, COWW, without cleaning and without any leading. Bore as slick as when I began.
