Anthony,

I've been quiet since the molds got sent back. Do I owe you anything for the extra postage?

Fellas, I think the extra shipping charges are gonna work out to mean nothing at the end. Four of the six molds I shipped today went out two to the package, and the total for the six ended up at $23. I'm $13 ahead right there, and have two more multiple orders to ship. If I lose anything it isn't gonna be enough to worry over.

Rick, I'm actually wearing civvies to this job. I got one of two Fellowships the Army filled in my specialty this year, which goes to prove that if you screw up badly enough in the G-3 they WILL find someplece else to send you! Tony

Hey Tony

got my two molds in fine shape - 46356

BTW - I love them .432 240 WFN bullets you sent- danged if'n I didnt size a mess of'em .430 to try in my 94 - measured the bore afterwards and found it to be .432 - DUH - never expected that for sure as I purchased the gun new. I was getting good groups with a flyer or two so I decided to measure the bore - MY 32-40 did the same thing with .001 undersized bullets.

got a mold on order from veral for that one - they load fine and shoot straight outta my 94. Mild 1200 fps is an awful sweet shootin with plenty of oomph fer a carbine compared to the 280 LFN's over #9 - them can hurt a feller.

Got mine today. What service and it looks like a well made mould.

Thanks for all your effort.

By the way I'm retired Army medical Corps and a former enlisted Artilleryman. What's your job?

13Echo, my job is making boolits (since I retired from Uncle's Army in '94. I was a grunt and aviation type, but my GF was ARTILLERY and chased the Kaiser across Europe in "The Big One"). btw, one of my posts early on when I was in the Air Force was England AFB, before I went in the Army. Anyway, I lee-mented one of these (I ordered 2) this evening (right nice wx FINALLY temp wise - almost too cool!) and while I REALLY LIKE to design, Lee screwed up the mould. Dimensions and weights are all over the place.

NOT TO WORRY! I'm gonna mark my cavities (pin punch or some such) and make the best of it. I lee-mented the mould prior to use, takes almost an hour, and it works good, as good as any 6 banger in the inventory. The hinge pin screw was as loose as a goose and wouldn't have held anyway. Tolerences are just not very good varying from a .451x.455 to a .452x.454 and weights are not consistent on either side of ~~~about 236. You'd think with all the computator stuff nowadays they could at least a little better....

Overall quality of the mould and casting is as good as any other we did through a group buy. Whoever cut the cavities..., well they need to go back to school!

Tony, you're a jewel! Thank you, Sir. You stuck with this through thick and thin. You certainly did your part, 'FO SHO!' Wanna go pig huntin' "down souf" some time? These boolits would be a good candidate!

Onliest thing that remains now is to get some loaded (.45 acp and 45 Colt) and see what happens. I'm athankin' that they're gonna shoot purdy good. sundog

Jerry, I'm a Redleg like sundog's grandfather, but have been sentenced to leave the guns and forevermore be a REMF Strategic Planner. Just got out of the Pentagon and life is good in the current assignment at the Institute for Defense Analyses.

sundog, I was/am afraid that most of the molds are gonna be that way. The one I tested certainly needs some work, and I'm probably gonna send it back to Lee. Wish I had time to test them all, but I'm heading to the sandbox in two weeks for a short trip and things are moving too fast. Maybe all thirty of us sending molds back to Lee will make an impression.

Anyone else cast with theirs yet? Five more to go, and I hope to get them out today.

Seem to be an awful lot of Redlegs and ex redlegs on this site. My time in the FA is the best of my life. I set more store by the stripes I earned than anything else I've ever done, including med school.

Good luck in your new assignment. REMF, I haven't heard that since Vietnam. I bet you won't be like one of them. Good luck in your new assignment.

For us non military youngn's... What's RedLegs and REMF?.. :lovebooli :hijack:

A hundred-fifty years or so ago, Artillery Units in the Army wore a red stripe on their trousers; the other branches of the Army had other colors to designate them. I believe Cavalry was yellow, Infantry was blue, but I could well be wrong. REMFs is a lot more modern in origin. It means Rear Echelon M----- F-----.

Dress Uniforms only? I remember back during my consulting days in 1967 they wore these colorful outfits to parties. The calvary, yellow stripes, even wore their swords. ... felix

just got in from the range that new bullet has alot of potential. It shot all over the place with my 625 the kimber commander shot some good groups and some crapy but strung horizontaly half way through shooting it i noticed the rear sight was loose and moving when i shot it. The gold cup shot it into a 1/2 for two 6 shot groups and just under an inch on the third with one that opened it up to that. The spingfield shot consistantly into an inch with it. That was as good as the springfields done and better then anything in the gold cup. Load was 5 grains of surplus aa2 and a fed primer cast out of 5050 ww/lyno. Im going to have to do some more work with that bullet next summer!!! Casting with the mold bullets averaged about 218 grains with that alloy and varied up and dont about 2 grains no worse then the average mold using one of my bottom pour pot. Ive never noticed better accuracy out of a handgun by sorting bullets an in all actuality its tough to notice a difference even with bullets that vary 5 grains in a 200 grain bullet. The bullet fed flawlously in all three autos. Overall im very pleased to get such good results with it with the first load ive tried and if anyone has an extra they want to pawn id surely buy it from you.

Got mine today. Thanks. 14103

Boolits weigh 234 to 235, are .450 to .453 or .451 to .454. A little outa round, but I am going to ry em. This mold does NOT like it when I pour the lead right down the sprue hole. Boolits looked terrible, so I threw the whole batch back and tried again. Poured the lead on the side of the hole and nice looking boolits. Measurments and weights were the same. I used 1/2 lead, 1/2 wheelweights with 3% tin.

Every mold is an individual.

Thanks A Bunch

Fellas, I'm glad folks are reporting positive results. I never doubted the design, but wish Lee did a better job on the blocks. I really think this design, cut properly, will be the ultimate all-around 45 ACP boolit. I did a radical Leement on my first one today and will try it tomorrow; if it doesn't work out I'll have a custom mold from another maker. Tony

I have a bunch of molds that work like that. I wonder if it lets the mold
vent better pouring off to the side like that????

Got mine in the mail yesterday.

Naturally, since I had a new toy I was anxious to try it out.

After I molded and sized approx. 500 bullets, I came to the conclusion that I have NO issues with my mold.

Thankyou Major. I appreciate you efforts in this endeavor. :lovebooli
