Not a muzzleloader, and not a cartridge rifle as such.

Pedersoli 1863 Sharps Sporting in .54, 32 inch barrel with a 1:48 twist.
Picked it up a few days ago and have only fired a handful of shots through it.
I bought 20 brass cases, a front tunnel, a medium range Creedmoor and a 535 grain "modern" style xmas tree mold with it.

The mold casts beautifully.
Will have an attempt at making paper cartridges one day.
So far it shoots great. Will take some practice and also finding what the best insert will be for the front tunnel.

I haven't fired the preloaded cartridges yet but they're holding 55 grains of 2f.
Initial shots I seated the projectile and filled the breach which holds 85 grains, and she certainly has some boot :)

I hope to use it for hunting local ferals in the future, everything from rabbits up to deer once I've sorted an accurate load.
But in between shooting it I enjoy just looking at it.

I did not know they made brass tubes to load those with! The 2 I had, would never shoot as well as my ML rifles, an after a few shots they were hard to open, hassle all the way around, I had an a import and a Sharps. My friends Sharps faired no better, and we were very active in BPCR shooting and ML competition. Hope yours does well.

I saved and saved and finally got a paper cutter Sharps.
It got stolen! Never fired it. Did the sights, had a mold, I did roll cartridges for it.
I am a lefty and the lock on the right side had me feeling awkward.
That was 20yrs ago. Never did get it back. I bet the person could not load it and just tossed it.
They are great rifles. Point real well.
Good luck. Paper cartridges are not that tough.

Well I put the 20 preloaded shells through it today. 100% ignition and I'm very happy with the groups at 50 paces.

Many Sharps shooters in the N-SSA [www.n-ssa.org] make their paper cartridges using Ladies Hair Curling Papers. They are cheap, come out of the box the right size and don't have to be nitrated. Others use the double wide cigarette papers, but they are very expensive because they have a lot of hidden tobacco prices in their cost.

The Sharps bullet mould made by Pedersoli is a very good design. A friend of mine, with a Pedersoli New Model 1859 Carbine and the Pedersoli bullet can shoot "one ragged hole"5 shot groups off the bench at 100 yards.

The trick? He weighs all of his bullets and seperates them into "Lots" of "Plus or Minus 1/2 Grain." He also uses Schutzen FFFG real black powder and RWS Musket Caps.

Oh Yes...With the "O" Ring Modification to the breech block, you will be able to get 50 or 60 shots before the action gets hard to open and close because of black powder fouling.

Some Sharps shooters use water pump grease or bearing grease to grease both the Lawrence Gas Check Plate of their Sharps and the breech block.
