An 8# jug of 4227 is still sitting on the shelf at my LGS and I've been tempted to buy it. Price is fair for todays market. I'm not worried about the price, just at versatility. I use it in my 41 and 45 colt. I know I can use it in rifles with CB but never have. I typically use other powders but have 3# on the shelf already. Why should I buy or leave on the shelf? Yes, I am buying what I can now as I am middle aged and will eventually see another powder issue inthe future. It is stored in a climate controlled basement.

DO IT! You will only regret not doing it. Since you have a good storage location, you can use it for years.

Really? If funds are available purchase and use when needed. If found that it goes unused sell or trade later.

Better to have and not "need" ( surplus ). Than want, and not be able to. Now !

Don't buy it. Your local sport shop is located where?

Pretty much the same but this phrase is what I live by.....

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it......

When TEOTWAWKI happens it will be worth much more than gold.
Buy it. There is no down side. It will only go up in price.

The hodgdon or IMR? I like H4227 in the 30-30, some of my most accurate a loads in a few different rifles have been with it.

Naw - don't buy it ... someone else will before you make up finish reading all the posts to your thread! Come on, but it's a no brainer since you have to come to the forum to let others know you can't make a decision

Don't pass it up if you know you'll use it. The time or two I did that it always disappeared while I pondered buying it so I've never done that since, especially not the way things have been in the last few years.

I looked through my Lyman cast boolit data and indeed 4227 is used in almost every area of the book that 2400 is. Magnum pistol and rifle rounds. If this is still there tomorrow, I'll take it as an omen and pick it up.

I picked up the 8# jug of IMR 4227 and also an 8# jug of Red Dot for a friend of mine (45cal). Sun is shining. Mid 70's with a breeze. I'm not working today. Today is a good day.
