Howdy...I've been casting exclusively for .45 for a few years but am looking to start for 9mm. I've been told the Lee 125gr RN mold would be a good option but my question is if casting straight WW and water quenching, then powder coat is this safe for a stock glock barrel?

Don't have a Glock. This boolit works fine in my SD9VE lubed with 50/50. The SD9VE is supposed to be a Glock clone, but I'm not sure about the rifling. I shoot mine as cast, air cooled, straight COWW.

The problem is the polygonal rifling. Not supposed to shoot cast bullets in such a barrel.

I have shot plated bullets effectively through my G19; would powdercoated bullets work as well? I don't know.

However, a quick search of our site here produced this thread:

Great, I've talked to a couple guys locally and they have experience with cast bullets through Glocks, no issues. Just wanted to get some more opinions.

Shoot cast thru glocks all the time. No harm no issues. 9mm and hot 10mm loads. Works better with stock barrel so you can squeeze a big ol fat boolit instead of tight throated KKM or wolf

#1. Read your Glock manual. What does it say about cast bullets?

#2. This has been discussed (Glock and cast boolits) ad infinitum. A simple search using 2 words (cast glock) will tell you what you want to know, or don't want to know or believe.

Glocks have been around long enough for this to be settled by casters. Read, young padawan.

+1 Hint. #1 is will be found in red letters.

Those Lee boolits shoot fine in by G17 with a LW barrel. Also a big fan of the TC boolits.

Cast a boolit of correct size for your barrel, use a good lube, and all will be right with the world. I also recommend water quenching for the 9mm, but would try air cooled 1st and see.

It is a personal choice on whether or not you shoot lead in a stock Glock barrel. I highly suggest reading the sticky in the handguns section.

Casting for a Glock is the same as casting for any other firearm.

I use that exact bullet, air cooled, cast from straight WW in my G19, stock barrel. No issues!

I use the same bullet, water quenched, pc'd in my 26 and have for years. Not a single issue.

The Lee 356-125 2R was the first mold I ever bought. 500k plus cast later, it is still making good boolits. I have a Glock 22 and 23 with 9mm Lone Wolf barrels for both. I have a buddy with a 17 and his wife has a 19 and both of those shoot fine with cast. Like a devious post said, proper size and lube and polygonal barrels shoot fine. My 40 S&W loads were all lubed lead for many thousands of rounds before I ever read 'don't shoot lead in Glocks.' My mold drops at .3585 and I size to .358 which has worked in every 9mm I have owned to shot.

I've been powder coating for the past 2 years and don't lube anymore. Of late, I have been shooting the heck out of an AR pistol I built in 9mm. The AR started out life as a carbine until I purchased a pistol lower and cut the barrel down. My standard load for the 125 2R ran 1150 fps out of my Glock and 1350 from the carbine. After cutting down the barrel to 10.5" my velocity only dropped to 1325. I have several molds I've run in the 9mm, the 358-105 SWC, the 356-120 TC, the 356-102 1R, and most recently the 356-95 RF. The most reliable performer has been the 125 2R, especially in the AR. Flat noses tend to hang up in the AR, but I'm working on sorting out the hang ups. The Glocks feed everything!

I did not care for this bullet when powder coated in my Glock 9mm storm lake and lone wolf barells. The powder coat makes the nose of the bullet too fat for me. I end up burning all these bullets in my CX4 Storm Carbine. I get much better results with the Lee 120TC both as powder coat and conventional lube.
