and have no idea why. Spotted a 1955 vintage 94 Winchester in 32 WS today. Metal was 90-95% with some notable blemishes from honest wear. A few spots were missed in the polishing process but I can live with a few tool marks. Wood had been varnished sometime in the past 30-40 yrs but it was nicely done and was still proud of the metal here and there. Bore was dirty but rifling was sharp, action tight and the trigger was better than most.
Could be my 1969 vintage 32WS 94 just became trade bait.

I think you need them both! I inherited my Grandfather's, 1950's vintage 94 Winchester 32 WS, it is in about high 90% condition, due do the fact that he left it home one time, when he went to deer camp. I think he just wanted to get away from my Grandmother.

Sometimes you just have to pass.

I just grabbed a '58 Marlin in the 32ws two weeks ago and yours sounds like it was in slightly better condition. Did I need it? Nope, but wanted it anyway! I don't sell my guns, even the duplicates. Let the kids do that when I am gone.

You need both!!!! Dern tootin'!!! I have 2 but they are about as different as could be. A Marlin, 1949, 336A, 24", half mag. Winchester 94 Wrangler from 1979, top eject, 16 1/2" barrel, full magazine tube. Both are fine guns even the post 64 Winchester. Both shoot cast really well.

Tina Turner sings a song titled: What's Love Got To Do With It?

I adapted it to gun purchases: "What's Need Got To Do With It?

You passed it up? Are you feeling ok?

I know the feeling, I passed up a 1899 30/30 with the cresent buttplate today, that I would have liked to have. It appeared all original and not a lot of wear for an early model (sometime before they changed to 99) but wasn't close to 90 %, maybe 80.

Better now, thanks Doc. Feeling a little light in the wallet but I've learned to live with that, lol.
This 94 is quite a bit nicer gun than the 1969 vintage gun so it was a good trade. I still have the 1921 vintage 32WS so I have a nice pair, no need for a spare. I took the Lyman 17M globe front sight and the Williams receiver sight off the 69, will need the Williams sight on the 55 model.

:bigsmyl2:I guess this is why I don't make New Years' resolutions. Must admit 100+ days was an admirable effort. OTOH I'm not sure a trade, an upgrade at that, should count.:kidding:

That would have been tough for me. I'd love to have a 30-30 of that vintage or a bit newer....as long as it's pre-WWII. Shooting buddy decided he was 72 yrs old and a couple of pre-1900 92's had been on the wall long enough. One was a 32-20, the other a 38-40. He's had them for decades and never fired them. Both will be in a museum someday but today they were pretty awesome shooters, the 38-40 was even fired with BP loads.

Nah, that resolution is still safe. Trades don't count...it's not adding to the count...just improving the view a bit.;-)

Improving the view and the quality of the herd of leverguns around here. Finished cleaning it last night, looks and feels like a nearly new gun. It's so pretty I couldn't bear to put it in the safe.

i had a 32 win spl. it was a model 94 top eject. it was a real nice gun, i never knew when it came out. i had to trade it when i got divorced and needed some money. every once in a while i see them at gun shops, but for $800-1000 they stay.

I agree, I've found some very nice rifles for decent money lately. For the record I'm into this little jewel for under $800 and they gave me a decent price on my trade-in.

the last one i seen(about a month ago) was a win m94 in 32win spl and the small gun shop owner had it priced at $895. the gun was fair, blueing worn off and the stock(both sets) had a whole bunch of scratches and dents on it. the action was a little rough. i forgot what the serial # was. the shop owner had the price set, he wouldn't come down. i figure it was worth $450-550. maybe even $600.

it will take awhile but i will get my own someday.

Passed up a nice one today. Although 32s & 30-30 models are available. We all know those pre 64s in general are becoming harder & harder to come by. Especially the well kept one's. If (I) came across another in really nice shape. I wouldn't hesitate or pass one up either. Reason not to: Got a few banks in this local that got some of that Tarp Government Money and they are m~ore than willing to loan it out. Yup even to someone like me.
Congrats on the 60 yr old rifles purchase.

Gee, no one's asked for pics yet. Guess most folks know my skills in that area are sorely lacking but I'll try to get my phone and netbook to quit fighting long enough to post a few.

Been a long day, will do soon. She's very plain, straightest grained stocks in the safe. Reminds me of a 94 I gave my brother several years back. Bought it, couldn't find a use for it but it was too nice to let go. The SN was very close to his DOB so I sent it south to his safe. It's his only levergun:shock:.....but he's not getting this one, lol.

Yesterday I was at our local Hardware Store/Gun Shop and handled four 94's in .32 Win Special. Three were pre 64's and one was a post 64. The pre 64's were priced at $469.00 and the post 64 was priced at $299.00. Here in NE PA, the .32 Win Special must have been quite popular as this LGS seems to always have several on the shelves for sale. Also saw an older Model 64 take down deluxe in .32 Win Special but the price was $1499.00.

Prices, selection and preferences seem to vary quite a bit from region to region.
No pics tonight, phone and netbook still fighting. :-(

Thanks, Buddy. Have one spot that needs some OOOO steel wool and cold blue but she is indeed a looker. I'll try some dummy loads tomorrow to see what she likes and hopefully shoot her Sunday.
I wish folks wouldn't live guns like her lying around, kinda hard on the budget, lol.

Saw a few nice Marlins yesterday, not going back after any of them, tho. One I had to fondle was an older 50's-60's 1895G (I think) in 45-70 but it had MG rifling. Latest 32 Spl was a big hit at show & tell @ the range yesterday. Didn't shoot it; still tweaking the load and I neglected to install a receiver sight so it will have to wait.

You should have got it. You would own the only Model 64 ever made in takedown.

Possibly a custom? A Cody letter might shed some light but I've heard of some pretty unusual things coming from Winchester in the early part of the last century.
