I've heard rumors that 4759 is no longer manufactured, is this true?

Bought two eight pound jugs a few months back. I'm good to go for some time.

Found some SR4759 in stock. Do we have anybody in or near Mesa, AZ? As of 4:10 PM (15 minutes ago) Bear Mountain store in Mesa, AZ has 33 one pound containers in stock @ $30.99 ea. (IIRC)

Almost forgot; they don't ship.

I saw on a different forum that Hodgdens got the message on Universal and is going to make it at least one more year. There is a thread on that a few lines down from this one.

Picked up some 4759 a few months ago myself so I have enough for a day or two. I have an old 4# tin of 7625 that I haven't finished burning up yet. Never got into using 4756 so I won't miss it much.

I have gotten to like 4759 just fine. But at $31.00 a lb, I would quickly learn to like something else a whole lot better.

Those prices are cheaper then what last two pounds of 4759, I relucantely had to pay to aquire them. But, I had found out from here 4759 had made the chopping block so was desperate. I only had 1/3 left from a 1lb container. Some of 4lb canisters of whatver brand and type can buy the 8lb jugs and still pay less in valley sadly, then the 4lb jugs last time I looked.
I personally would like to aquire at least 3-4 more lbs of it before market totally dries up.
I'm totally BUMBED.

My Savage 10ml absolutely loves the SR4759. When, I bought mine it was one of their preferred powders for it too.

It really puts those of us with the 10Ml's and that's all we use, in a bad spot. For my purposes I can't believe there is going to be anything more accurate or give me the real world performance I have enjoyed with mine over the years.

I knew two guys who bought the first 10ml's. A they said, it they spent an insane mount of money, on powder, bullets and sabots to make sure they had the best accuerarcy and performance possible.

They both ended up getting best performance for the SR4759, same charge, sabot and bullet independently.

A few weeks apart from each other, I got handed a dozen Hornady XTP's,mmp sabots and the look just buy the SR4759 from each of them. Use whatever the number Lee dipper to measure the powder was for the one charge and don't look bad so to say.. You won't want to or need to try anything else unless your in an area where you have to use Pyrodex.

So its got me really bummed. I have whacked a lot of deer with my preferred load for it. I had found some old data on it too a while back, I had wanted to try out for pistol too. Won't be doing that now. :(

So, fingers crossed next trip to Valley they will still have some.
