Well went out to day to see if I could find a sweet spot load for the m-96/38 dated 1925
I load 129 gr. hornady at a C.O.A.L. 2.960 with 41.0 41.5 42.0 42.5 and last 43.0 grains of IMR 4350
IMR 42.0 grains won hand down from the bench using front and rear bags 5 shots 1/2" group
42.5 grains I had 1 round out of the group it could of been me I will see on then next range trip.I am going to head out to the 200 yard and 300 yard target remember I have the scout scout scope set up using S@K base mount along with the NC Star scope 2x7x32MM
I may have found my next deer hunting rifle a little on the heavy side for woods walking thank god for the 4 wheeler .
My first rifle of choice is my Rem: Mohawk 243 cal. with a 18 1/2" barrel

Sounds like a tack driver.
I use 4831 and reloader 19, with 140gr jboolits the accuracy is amazing.
Be well

I have a 96 rifle in original condition with a scout scope. I had my best accuracy with 100 grain jacketed and Reloader 15. I can't believe you can get 1-minute accuracy out of a stock military rifle with all that wood and metal bands.

i can't find much choice in powder now. Last time I shot it was, IIRC, with 14 gr. of 4759 and 2-inch groups. Still not bad.

I spent a lot of time to free float the barrel and remove some wood so the barrel bands slip over the wood without adding excess point pressure
The Boyds bold trigger did help a lot

This is my all time favorite caliber/rifle. I have issue rifles, unissued that I sporterized in 1985, an customs I built on Savage 110 actions. I did serious load development over 3 years, tried 30 different powders, and about every bullet that Hornady, Sierra, and Nosler made. MY most accurate loads, all used the same powder, IMR-3031, clean burning, maximum velocity, and no pressure signs. With 85, 120, 140 grain J bullets, all shot 1/2moa at 100 and 200. With 160grs I achieved 3/4 or less to 200yds, and I mean every day. I have taken over 600 chucks since 85, close to 100 coyotes, and 40 deer in 2 states, from 45-500yds with the swede! This is with one I sporterized in 1985, and still shoots under 1/2 inch. If you want some load data, pm me!

well I had a chance to see what the 6.5x55 will do at the 200 yards range
seem the 140 gr. hornady with IMR 4350 did keep a 3" group on paper
129 Gr.Sp Hornady also did good with IMR 4350 45.0
I did find out the sweed I have does't not like the bullet seated close to the lands.
I shot the Priv ammo 139 gr. and it did shoot excellent at the 100 yard target.
I only pick this ammo up for the brass to reload a lot cheaper buying live ammo then just trying to purchase brass alone.
I wonder why the Priv ammo the bullet diameter is .263 instead of 264 dia?

Priv bullits are .263, good for 100m bit sketchy past that.
I would get brass
Be safe
