Lyman 550 ball mold for what gun

I have lyman 550 round ball mold what type of gun use that size ball ?

I have two fifty caliber. I have hear of 54 cal and 58 cal never hear of 56 caliber ? 550 round ball would be close to 56 caliber ?

bouncer50, That mold was made to fit the .56cal. T/C Renegade Smoothbore, which was made to suit Massachusetts' hunting laws at that time (and perhaps today as well). I have both the mold and the gun and find it to be surprisingly accurate with the .550" RB.

I also have that mold and a T/C smoothbore .56. The ball is a true .28 gauge, while the barrel's a little larger, rather than the typically used barrel at 28ga with the ball a little smaller at .530.

i have a 56 renegade. awesome gun. it shot very well with a patched .550 but needed cleaning every 2 shots or i couldn't get the next ball down the bore. I hear that .530 balls and a thicker patch can solve that problem
that being said. let me know if you ever want to part with the mould : )

I've been thinking it could have potential in a shotcup and loaded into a 20ga shotgun. Put me in line behind Michael Spangler if you decide to sell it.

Miha was making a .550 rb mold for a while, I believe at the request of member "Duke in Florida." Maybe it's time for a rerun!

I'd be all over a MiHec .550 RB mold.

Personally, I would love it if Mihec made a RB mold with .311", .490", .530", and .680" RBs, and it would be just PERFECT if it was in one mold block. But I doubt there would be much interest in that combination.
