ever since a certain someone, who will remain nameless (wayne smith:wink::lol:), said how about a husqvarna? i loose alot if sleep.

now i have never had a husky, but i have seen them once in a while. i've been using the 'net and i've got a few questions for everyone.

i have a 30-40 krag in 1898 spr armory and opening/closing the bolt is like slick butter. how does a husky rate?

i want to put a rear aperture sight on it. or should i let it alone and use the weaver scope bases to mount a new scope on it?

this will be an all cast boolit rifle. it will probably be in the m1640 30-06, are the lands and grooves different? i know i'm going to slug the barrel, does it come out to .308" or .312" or .310"? or is it pretty much the same?

if i break it, like firing pin or somesuch, where do i go for another?

i really like the husqvarna model 1640 in the old 30-06. it has got my eye on it. wooden stock. check. 23.5" barrel. check. open sights. check. scope if you need it. check. 30-06. check.
i think i'm loving it!8-)

I love my two Huskies (rifles that is.... not sled dogs).

If memory serves me right the Husky in 30-06 has a 1-12 twist barrel which makes it about perfect for cast bullets.

I have a husky model 146 (FN 98 action) in 9.3x57 which I still haven't shot yet. I have to glass bed the front reciever ring and recoil lug and tang. Was made in 1928. Frank

Our very own Ben has glass bedded my m98 actioned Husqvarna's (two 8x57, 30/06, 9.3x57 and 9.3x62). Unfortunately I haven't had time to shoot ANY of them. Maybe he'll post some of the photos he took of his outstanding work! I'm tempted by a 30/06 1640 too. And one in 270 would be good.

.

The firing pin, and a receiver sight, from a Mauser 98 should fit/interchange with a Husqvarna 1640 - which is a Small Ring Model 98 (cock-on-opening) Mauser.

The earlier, cock-on-closing, Husqvarna 6.5x55 Small Ring rifles are Mauser 96-based, but AFAIK, never available in. 30-06, have a different firing pin.

The later HVA actions were also M-98 mauser based, but has bolt locking lugs with a delta-shape, ILO the Mauser's square lugs.

That sight is the reason i bought the rifle. The sight was made in Sweden and I've only seen them on rifles that were imported with them installed.

I'm not jealous and I never fib.

That's bad news re the sight--I need three of those...
Guess I'll just be needy.

This is all I could find :

Way clunky compared to yours for shure.

I have 2, made in the 50sboh 06s. One is a semi hi grade with excellent wood, blue, has the compass in the pistol grip. The other is exc, just not as nice. Both shoot good. Mauser action what can u say. Nice guns.

I guess I'm the bad guy. I got my 9.3x57 Husky 48, but it is a cock on closing action, small ring. I haven't done anything but look at it since taking it out of the box! It is light, does handle well, and I need everything else for this caliber. I won't be shooting mine for at least a couple months. ($320 delivered, that's what I like about it!)
