For a class project down here in Trinidad, I'm building an 1874 sharps 45-110 falling block. Its inspired by Quigley's rifle with some alterations for practicality like a shotgun stock instead of the thin military stock, but I want to keep the awesome caliber.
I have located a part here and a part there, got a complete receiver from C Sharps, and the 34" heavy barrel. Got some reloading odds and ends from Track of the wolf, and getting a stock and forend from treebone. I am looking forward to trying to load both paper patched black powder and even up to a modern powdercoated smokless round.
The biggest stumbling block so far has been the 2.8" cases. They are impossible to find. Midway has some Bertrams for $92 for a box of 20. but I have read a lot of bad reviews on Bertram brass, mostly in this forum, and at $4.60 a case, I want quality, and from what Ive been reading Bertram isn't.
I would love to get some Starline, or even Norma, but I'm unable to locate any. Does anybody have any links or suggestions on where to find quality brass even in 45-120 that can be trimmed down?

Buffalo Arms is out of stock at the moment, but they will accept backorders.

.

Starline has .45-100 in stock, but doesn't even list a .45-110 case.

:drinks::drinks:If you want it, here it is, come and get it... Check out the price on the Norma brass. And the BA stuff is $2.50 a case... If you have to ask, you cant afford it...

Hey thanks, how I missed the stuff at track of the wolf, I don't know. I ended up stumbling across norma 45 120 brass at buffalo arms and bought that at $2.71 per. it claims to be in stock, we'll see. If not Ill go to t.o.t.wolf and get theirs.
I actually sent starline an email, if they made 45 110 at a price comprable to the 45 100, wow!, just over a buck a shell, less if I buy a lot. we'll see what they say. the tooling can't be much different.

There's nothing wrong with Bertram brass anymore. They did have some QC problems 6-7 years ago but so did Norma and others.

You might contact these folks and see when they'll have the 2 7/8 brass back in production.http://www.captechintl.com/default.php
