Hey guys,

I just picked this up and after wiping off all the cosmoline out of it or whatever goo that is, I found some proofs under the wood on the receiver that I've never seen before. I know the WAAs and the eagles are the german (WaA 77, I think a 243 and some small eagle over 20 or 26s) and the yugo crest on the top of the receiver but these are bugging me. I really dont know anything about the k98s or yugo rebuilds but interesting just trying to piece together some sort of history.

By the WaA77s on them, it looks like the receiver was made somewhere in 1944, but not sure of the whole story. Here is the best picture I could take of them, and they are all in pairs.

Starting from left to right (not the best picture i know) are pairs of: 5 pointed asteriks, sideways number 11, a pi symbol kinda animal shaped mark and then 2 shields. There is also a large 4 on the bottom of the receiver.

136475

Anyone have any ideas?

I can tell you that the 243 is a german proof code for the arsenal it was built. If you look up german proof codes or ordinance codes there is a list of them. Nice rifle!

Those look like they are miscellaneous inspectors stamps.

Yeah, so no idea where or when they came from?

Most likely german from when the gun was first made.

The Code 243 is the German for Mauserwerke Borgswalde
