I`m making a custom top mount for a rifle. I will be using an 1 piece Weaver top mount that I will screw onto the reciever. I tried calling Weaver to find the size and thread for the mount screws I would need to drill and tap for, but there was nobody available I was told to help me. Would anybody have an idea of the size and thread per inch on these screws?Robert

Depends on the mount, but 6-48 is common. I got a mount for a Rem 7600 it was the right hole spacing but used 8-40 screws. I have a chart from Brownells saved. I'll try and find the link.
Found my file, 6-48 is most common by far. Post your mount # and I will look it up.

48440

417M base

91054 8/40 long – 4 each

239555

I don't show a 417T in anything I have , but it shows to fit a Mossbereg just like this 417M. May be the same, but I would not D&T till I got the base.
