I am looking at buying a vortex rifle scope for my new T\C Venture 308 win. Do any of you guys use vortex and what are your reviews so far? Any comments are appreciated.

I have been replacing my leupold scopes with vortex scopes over the last few years.
sad when you can spot stuff in your 12 power binoculars, and can't find it in your 12 power scope..

That's about all I'll buy any more. Having a scope testing jig at work has made me a believer in Vortex scopes. Granted I haven't messed with the cheaper ones at all, but the Viper HS and up are some of the best scopes out there for the money. The Viper PST and Razor HD are as good or better than anything you can buy for twice and sometimes three times the price. Good stuff!

I have a Vortex Crossfire 2 2-7x32 and I love it. I'm sure it doesn't compare to the higher end Vortex scope, but for what I paid it's as good as any Mid level Nikon or Burris.

I have four models, from the low end to upper middle end, and they're great. All the design features I want, great glass, and priced right. I just hope they stay with that formula. Highly recommend.

I have a Viper on my .204 and couldn't be happier with it. The crossfire on my 10/22 works like a charm also. In fact, all the scopes and binoculars I buy anymore are Vortex - great quality, and the best warranty in the business...

I have two and love them. They replaced some older hardware and the difference is amazing. They are bright and clear and the Crossfire on the .338 Win Mag has held its zero well despite a lengthy cartridge development program (about 150 rounds). If I come into some spare money I want to upgrade to the Vortex etched reticule but that'll be awhile.

Use a viper, and I concur, super clear and hard to beat for the money.

Vortex fan here. Biased, as they're my literal neighbors, but I believe they have as fine an optics as competitors at twice the price, generally speaking. Plus, their customer service is top notch.

I replaced the Nightforce NXS on my 308 with a Razor HD. The improvement is tremendous!

Yup, I own a 2-7x32 and love the thing. I have never had to use the warranty but am not worried about it if I do. I had another brand scope fail me last year during deer season, and I put this Vortex on that I had on another rifle. It took pounding, soaking, cold rain and changing conditions that killed the other scope like it was a sunny day. It never fogged on me.

I bought my second one a little while back. I would highly recommend them and should I ever need another scope they will top my list (I think I own more scopes than rifles).

Where are these scopes made?

The Razor HD range is made in Japan. As far as I know the rest are made in the Philippines (certainly mine are). Apart from being well made and having many desirable features, they come with a lifetime warranty. That says it all to me.

I have a mid-priced Vortex on my Air Arms S510 .25 cal. pcp airgun, it is good for that purpose as there is no recoil, and there is not much at stake when I'm using it.....I certainly won't trade Leupolds or Nightforce for a Phillipine made scope. I would not use this on a hunting rifle that recoils alot, this of course doesn't cover the expensive models which I have no experience with.

Between my son and I, we have 4 rifle scopes and 1 pair of binos. 3 of the scopes are Diamondbacks, and have zero issues with them. The binos are too, and they do exactly what we need them to do. Spot game out to 300-400 yards. The last scope is a Viper, and its a lot nicer than the Diamondbacks. Over time, all of the scopes will be upgraded to that line or better, it makes that big of a difference at first and last light. Their warranty, if needed, is excellent. We did use them for the binoculars, and within 30 days of mailing, they were fixed, cleaned and returned. I have nothing but good things to say about Vortex.

The new diamondback HP's are the old vipers as I see it. The Vipers are moving to the larger tube. I have a diamondback HP and it's very nice.

Yep, forgot to add, I have the 8x42 binos as well, and love them. I think you cannot go wrong with anything from this company.

I have one of the new HP Diamond backs in 3-12X42 with side focus and love it on my 35 Whelen. I believe my next one will be the 2-8x40 HP.

I cant comment about the less expensive Vortex scopes but the Razor HD is very good.....not quite as good as a Schmidt and Bender but it cost about half as much also. I wouldn't mind getting at least one more.

I have four, all vipers. My two favorites are 6x24x50. Nice being able to see the .223 holes @ 100 without any problem - and being able to read the small print on the target to boot:shock:

My Strike fire red dot works ok.
I had a crossfire, but it broke, sent it back, got a crossfire II as a replacement.
Totally worthless for long distance.

x2, x2 on this one! I returned the crossfire 2 as image was not clear @ 100 and indistinguishable @ 200! Point of aim changed over 24" with a 4 click adjustment on elevation!!! I replaced it with a 6.5x20x50 mm mil dot Viper and absolutely love it.

I am looking at the crossfire2 and the diamondbacks, I have plenty of time and want to pick the right one. I will be buying at least 2 of them, one for 223 bolt and one for 308 bolt.

I started with a crossfire and it was OK but then tried the upgraded Viper series. BIG difference. I'd wait and go with either a Viper or for more $ the Diamondback. In all honesty - haven't used a diamondback because I'm VERY happy with the Viper series for quality of image, tracking and features.

I'm using mine on .223 bolt guns - CZ 527 varmints and a Savage M12 varmint.

I have their Hog scope as well as their rangefinder I am pleased overall and really like their warranty coverage, finding a rangefinder with more than a two year warranty is hard.

About where they are made... this question has been asked on other forums when they first started aggressively advertising. Going from memory, I seem to recall reading they are ASSEMBLED in the US. The parts are manufactured elsewhere. Different price points are different origins... I have the $125 model and it was made in China, but still a lifetime warranty. The Philippines and Japan are the other places of origin for the parts on the higher grade models.

Using this scope and handloads, I can hit the X in the bullseye at 100 yds out of my G3. That's with the standard service barrel! That convinced me and my buddy that these are good scopes. I'd like to try one of the higher grade models in the future.

Picture of it here next to the 6.5x55mm AK I built for my dad:

I am considering taking this elk hunting this year since the scope works so well.

S&B has better glass, but the Razor HD will track straighter, measure better, has a more accurate mil scale reticle, and an easier to use zero stop. I test a lot of both of them, and this is universal in what I have found.

I used the Razor HD 80mm spotter for a season. At less than half the cost of the "big three", I can absolutely recommend it. I've also been very impressed with several of their scopes that I have handles. Lastly, with a no questions asked warranty, how can you go wrong?

just bought a 6 x 24 yesterday at first stop in rapid city, my 15 year old son and i looked at a lot of scopes and he picked the vortex. he felt it was the best of them all for him. cost a pretty penny but i just sold a custom gun i built and promised him last winter when i sold that gun he would get a new scope. the man who sold us the scope fell in love with matts old scope, it is a old tv screen weaver that i had rebuilt. it is 9 power. that one will go on his custom inline muzzle loader. he took it out on the deck last evening when the light was going away and it was bright and crystal clear. now we have to wait for some good weather to sight it in. going to try it on varmints before deer season next year. my other son in denver just bought a 22/250 ruger and he told me he is going to put a vortex on it when he gets the money. they have a good warrenty also

I ordered a 6-18x44 crossfire 2 the other day its supposed to be here next week, I'm putting it on my twin daughters 223 axis. If it don't fit the axis it will go on the Thompson venture 308 win.

That's unusual. Are you sure it's not a problem with the mount, rings, or rifle's bedding/forend pressure? I seldom see a modern scope that won't hold zero, but sure do see a lot with those other problems.

I love the optics on the Vortexes, just wish the eye relief was in general better. Sold my 2-7, not for any lack of quality, but loading my 45/70 hot, the 3.5-3.1" relief got me scoped one too many times. It worked great on my 30-06, factory loads, though. Glass, imo, is leagues beyond its price point.

I have three Vortex scopes and am really happy with all three of them. The first one I picked up is a Diamondback 3-9x40 that I put on my 350 Rem Mag. The second is the Viper HS 2-10x44 that I put on my 6.5x55, and the third is the Viper HS-T 6-24x50 and it sits on my 280AI. All three of the scopes hold zero and track extremely well. I am quite happy with them and feel they are a great value for what you get.

Optics on my Vortex 3-12 Diamondback HD are super. The reticle is a little coarse which is perfect for the woods. The combination of the side focus/parallax adjustment and the bottom tick mark on the rangefinder reticle put my 358 win mouse-fart loads on target at 30 yards with my 225gr hunting load dead on at 100. Great scope, but be sure to get the HD if you go this way.
