I have one round of these left and really like how the bullet shoots... Can someone here tell me what bullet it is? I have not pulled it down to check weight, guessing a 150 grain.

150 grain HP. I think it was winchester that loaded these but it my have been Federal. A friend had some and the kill deer like bang flop.

Check the headstamp. Aspangler is thinking of aWinchester 150gr but I seem to remember some Federal 125 gr HPs in 30-30. I don't think that any maker loaded 170s with a HP so it is pretty likely a 125, 135 or 150.

I'm thinking that the head stamp is FEDERAL and it is the 125 gr. h.p. Other .30-30 h.p.'s (150 Winchester and 170 Remington Mushroom) do not have lead exposed at the tip.w30wcf

It is an RP case, I am thinking it is not factory... Maybe the Sierra 2020, 125 HP. Guess that I am going to have to pull it.

Matt,
Now that I look closer at it, it is the Sierra 125 H.P. The 125 H.P. in the Federal Factory ammo has the cannelure a bit further from the nose.

Sierra 125 reload / Federal Factory 125 gr. / 125 Remington Factory / 130 Speer reload

Sierra HP bullets used to look like that, in fact Federal advertised that some of their rifle ammo was loaded with Sierra.

i'd say 125gr fnhp from sierra. i shot quite a few deer with that load. i think it was h322.
it was bang, flop and dead deer. all where from 10-75 yards. i really gotta get that thruty-thruty out.
