Has anyone tried either the Lyman 311466 or 311467 Loverin design CB’s in a K31 for target shooting, and if so what were your results. Thanks for your time.

I have not tried those. The 311644 works well as does the 311672. 311041 and similar Lee designs won't feed from the magazine. If you have a rifle with worn throat, you might get away with a 311299.
Hmmm... all your recommendations are for heavier bullets. While I am not discounting the heavier weight CB, I am interested to hear results for the 150gr CB. The Swiss military ammo is in the 170gr range, and I suspect there is good reason for the selection.

Actually Lonestar22, Ly. #311466 was one of my favorite CB's for my two K-31's as was Ly. #311644 (now -672). However, the Lee 180gr. gas checked CB was even better. My load was typically 18gr. - 21gr. WC 820 (AA#9) or 20 - 21gr. 5744.

I appreciate the feedback and the load data. I have most of a pound of 5744 on the shelf, so I will give it a try.

Yeah, the RCBS Sillywet is super accurate in my K31 as well. I just have a hunch the Loverin CB's should be accurate also.

I don't know about the throat on your rifle, and I don't know about the bands on the bullets you've mentioned. Some time ago, before he left this forum for good, smokem joe made me a bump die that'll make quite a few bullets that wouldn't normally be an ideal fit in the rifle, work just fine. Since then I've got my hands on an Eagan 1 degree tapered sizing die that works good too. My avatar is Eagan's modernization of the Loverin, sorta. The only bullet I've found that fits my rifle's throat without modification is the Eagan MX3-30-AR. It's very much like the RCBS sillywet, but has more taper, I think. 308329 spitzer is good, only the front band needs bumped down to .3055. It then seats to about max magazine length. Weight check and lubed, in my alloy is 175gr.

136202I finally got to shoot my Lee 155's for the first time this past weekend. First 5 rounds are shown. Good results for iron sights at 50 yards. 24.9 grains of 3031 in original GP11 brass that were reprimed using the hydraulic method. Forgot my magazine at home on the bench so I loaded singles only.

Very unlikely to be usable due to long portion of a Loverin design that
is full groove diam and near zero throats in K31. You need something with
a nose that can fit into the bore, a bore rider type of design or a spritzer.
The jacketed Swiss bullet is a two diameter design, .299 (or maybe .298, I forget)
ahead of the cannelure and .307 or .308 behind the cannelure.

Some have reported that throat wear has made it possible to use normal
jacketed bullets at normal LOAs, but I have to seat jbullets very deeply
in my K31s or they will not chamber.

I seriously doubt that you will be able to ever chamber a Loverin design
in a K31. Start with trying a dummy round, I think you will see my point
right away, but you may have a gun with enough throat erosion to make
it work.

I find in my K31 I am very limited to what I can shoot due to the throat. Most cast I have shot incurs heavy engraving upon chambering. I made a "split neck case" to see where I was at in regard to bullet seating depth, and it worked wonders.

I would say your first outing was very satisfying. It's good when things go the way you want.

The split neck case check for OAL has been one of my tools for years. It's simple and works!
