I would say this falls under the handcannon section.

My review and video of the new 2015 Desert Eagle is published. This was my first experience with the Desert Eagle and the .50 AE. It was not as bad as I imagined and accuracy was excellent. Next up is the ballistic test.

As always I appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

Nice review.

I especially liked that you mentioned the caliber swapping capability of the DE pistol.

Calibers in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .50 Action Express are available for the pistol.

The .50AE converts to .44 Magnum by a barrel and magazine swap.

For .357 Magnum you would also need to swap the bolt, which is also no problem.

I think the quoted part should have been put in the original manual sold with every Desert Eagle pistol.

I've met many folks who already own a DE pistol, that did not know they could swap calibers so easily, all on the same frame.

It was a good read. I love the monster gun, friends have them and they are very accurate. Price keeps me away though.
I have never figured out how they cut the gas channel and wish there was a way to keep lead and lube out of it since I am a cast shooter.

Thank you both for the feedback, I truly appreciate that.
I found the caliber conversion on the website myself, while researching the pistol.

44man, I am with you brother. I was disappointed case bullets were a no-no due to the gas system and barrel. Even the bullets are expensive and while reloading them helps, casting would help much more.

 Nice piece. As far as the bullets go,I bet BT Sniper could come up with some really sweet swage dies for that slug. And I just bet that a semi auto carbine or bolt gun would be more fun than a barrel of drunk monkeys.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Anyone tried powder coat with the DE? I'd think that would keep lead out of the gas system.

I have not thought of that but it is a great idea. Any thoughts?

I have a 50AE.
Overwhelmed with the accuracy of that thing.
Just as a coincidence I picked up a light weight mold for my FA 500JRH, I put some PC'd ones in the oven last night to try in mine.

BT already has a swag set for the 50 pistol. For the "jacket" use 45acp brass. And you can use the same projectile for the Smith 500, GI 50 and the 50 Beowulf, to mention a few.

I shoot pc boolits out of my 50ae and haven't had a problem yet.It is probably my favorite pistol caliber to play with.Between the Desert Eagle and the Freedom Arms I stay busy casting and loading. And yes the 50ae in a bolt gun is a fun little package.I had Special Interest Arms build me one on an Enfield action.

No other semi can handle big rounds like the DE and hold together. How I would love to have the new SS one but money has not showed up on my trees yet.
I hunt with revolvers only so weight and barrel length means nothing. The DE would fit.
I have 3 BFR's and no revolvers have ever been so accurate and killed deer so fast. I found the DE to be very accurate but it is a wish list.
Like Carol wanting a Corvette!

Yes, you can PC for the DE and it works. Sometime when I get around to it I shall do a video actually shooting it. Here's a video on some of the results on fouling with a DE and some other handguns.
