Years ago I purchased an 8 pound jug of CMR100 from Jeff Bartlett and I was gifted another 8 pounds several years ago. It was billed as a substitute for IMR4895 and to use that data less 10%. Back in the day I tried loading it in just about every caliber rifle I shot with mixed results. I bought it hoping it would be useful in reduced cast boolit loads but now only use it in my 45-70 Marlin where it works very well with heavy cast boolits. I know a few other members bought some of this power and am wondering if anyone tried it in a 30-30 with cast boolits or in 223 or 243 with jacketed bullets. If so, could you please let me know how it worked? The powder appears to be in very good shape and would like to find a use for it as I can't see myself shooting the remaining 11 pounds in my 45-70.

I loaded up 10 243 rounds with Hornady 75 grain V-max bullets and surplus CMR100. I used a somewhat less than maximum IMR4895 load that was recommended as quite accurate, less 10% for the CMR100 rounds, and also loaded up the recommended 4895 load as a control load for comparison. I hope to try them out this weekend.
