I currently have a couple of Lee molds, for my Marlin 1895 GBL.

But the molds from Lee are kinda hit'n miss. So now I'm on the market, seeking for an upgrade.

I seek an all purpose bullet mold. For hunting everything from fox to elk, to punching paper at the range.

The mold has to be around .458. The bullets will be powdercoated.

I live in Europe, so I'd appreciate if the dealers ship internationally, or is located in Europe.

Thanks a bunch! :bigsmyl2:

Perhaps I were not specific enough in my question.

I know many of the manufacturers, and that is all well and good.

What i seek is THE bullet/mold. I do not wish to buy several molds. I just want THE mold, and be done with it.

So, what is THE bullet/mold for a Marlin 1895 GBL, for all-round usage?

I going to buy the 46-405V from accurate. It will do anything I need it to.

405 gr RCBS. It was specifically designed for the 1895 Marlins. Since you mention elk specifically, you'll need to plan for your most demanding need. You should be able to load it down for lesser beasts, but the elk requires penetration. This mould is universally popular, so distributors in Europe should have them available. I had one of these rifles for many years. If I had to choose one bullet for it, this would be the one.

I just ordered a multiple cavity mold from accurate.
It has 350, 430, and 525 grain cavities all in one.

The 430 will probably be the most useful, the 350 for plinking, and the 525 for the occasional roving dinosaur.

Fwiw-mine are the 350vg, 430vg, and 525v. They are pretty much copies of the piledriver designs, which have been very successful.

The 45/70 is not picky as to what it likes for cast bullets, decide whether you want gascheck or plain base. The Lyman and RCBS 400-405 grainers are famous as is the Lyman Gould 330 gr. Hollow point.

Thanks people!

I'll try my luck with the 405 gr RCBS mold :)

I will add the recent MP mold that just completed recently and he is in Europe (Slovenia) that does a HB and/or Plain base. Cast em soft and hollow for BP or lower powered loads and then you have the heavier version in PB if and when you need it. At least it is what I decided on and sure he has some extra's left that could be acquired via PM to Miha?

I use the RCBS 405gr GC for full power work when I really want to push things out of my Marlin 1895SBL, or the Lyman 457122HP (335gr in my alloy) in my H&R BC for light work, like deer and hogs.

RCBS 405 GC works really well for me.

I like Ranch Dog's 460-350, pretty awesome hunting boolit. I like the 405 but it's more than I need for TX deer and even big hogs. Lots of boolits and powders work quite well in the 45-70.
