Multiple projectiles would still make sense for a beltfed meat eater built along the lines of the M60E6.

There were some 7.62 U.S. rounds made with two bullets don't recall what they called it. 50 bmg had one with 3 bullets as well. Frank

Those 7,62 nato duplex rounds were neat . I had a partial belt of those green tipped wonders.Luckily a collector wanted them more than I wanted to shoot them and I traded them off to him . They were 68 dated - the examples I had. I believe they tried these in vietnam to some extent.

I have heard of these. There was a two ball version for the 03 springfield.
i tryed a two balls in 30-30. Worked quite well, would have to look up the load, but had both balls hit within 5" at 50m.

Two 175gr hollow base 45 colt slugs nestle nicely together in a 45-70.

Multiply multiple bullets x a gatling's rate of fire. Awesome! Might not be a target round, but it'd be laying down a large area of lead.
