A friend offered me 8# at a smoking deal but can I use it with cast loads?

In the hodgdon 2015 annual manual it list's loads for both with this powder for j words. it shouldn't be to hard to make load off of that for cast.

I looked at the data but am wondering about reduced loads as I use 4895 for more robust 06 loads

I use BLC2 extensively in cast boolit loads, particularily the .30/30 and .35Rem.
I've used a bit of CFE223, mostly in .223 service type loads.

I consider it to be for practical purposes "Improved BLC2" on account of the copper fouling reducer (eraser is a bit over and beyond).
Charge weights are running 1-4% above what I would use with BLC2... ymmv.

Most accuracy reports, and my results were similar, it want's to be run at higher pressures, and may not respond to reduction of charges like an extruded powder will. (ie: forgiving).
FWIW; I don't get good accuracy in the .35Rem until I get to near max published loads. Often times, with Hodgdon, their max loads in milder cartridges (.35Rem and .257Roberts as examples) the maximum is where they saw the best accuracy and that's where they call it quits... Bruce H. did that with the original batch of H380 in the .22-250. My .22-250 says 39.0 is THE load with 53-60gr bullets.nn

I suspect you'll get best results running it "hard'... maybe too hard for good results with cb's.

There are better powders for what you want to do. CFE223 shines in standard sized 308 family and smaller cases at near max. Can it work? Yes. Are there better powders for this? Yes.

Actually I am being given 8# free, just wanted to see if I could add cast loads recipes with this powder but I load j bullets in smaller calibers so will have fun with it. Thanks for the info.

We'll dang. Can't beat that. It's worth a try then.
