A kind user here recently sent me some of the lee 309-113 bullets to try. They were for 30-30. I figured why not try them in my 1903-A3 30-06. I have looked high and low and can't find a seating depth with them for 30-30 or 30-06. Anyone have experience with these. I have settled on 9.0 grains of 700x for 30-06. Is that a good charge? Thanks guys!

I really like that boolit and shoot it a lot in my 30-30s. I've also used the "soup can", sized .311 and tumble lubed, with good success in all of my other 30 caliber rifles including 30-06. My gun club has a military collectors rifle shoot in the winter months and one season I shot the soup can in my 03-A3 with 17.9 grains of 2400. Velocity was 1910 fps and they went into very tight groups but I had some feeding problems so went to a different boolit. I don't recall how deep I seated them and have no experience with 700X so I can't help you there. Good luck.

That bullet is quite accurate in the .30-06 and 7.5 x 55mm [Swiss] K-31. As it has a gas check, it can tolerate mid-range velocity very well. Oddly enough, I have to seat it deeply in the case neck to get it to chamber in my Win. Mod 70 Westerner (.30-06).

Bump. Lyman lists 2.909 as a seating depth for the lyman 311359 in 30-06. Would that work for this? I tried chembering a bullet just in the neck put the lands kept pulling it out. Thanks!

As I recall and as Maven posted, we had to seat the boolit quite deep into the case. You can't rely on 311359 info because they are very different boolits. You may have to seat the soup can until little more than the nub on top is showing above the case mouth to make it work.

Have you tried splitting the neck and chambering a dummy round? The boolits is much less likely to get stuck in the rifling because you removed most of the neck tension. The rifling will seat the boolit for you and you can adjust your seating dies accordingly.

I did what he says in post #3. Seat progressively deeper until it will chamber. I use unique in the .30-30 at 8.0 grains and better double check, but I think 13.0 in the .30-06. Good little boolits.
