I acquired these molds recently. They look like Hensley & Gibbs molds. They have the bullet design number and size stamped into the upper left side like my others, but they do not have the typical Hensley & Gibbs stamped on them. My questions is, are they genuine H & G molds? Comments??

Certainly look likes the real thing.

Sprue plate groove, knuckle hinge, stop bolt, bullet style / specific size stamp.

If you think it's a fake, I could probably be convinced to take it off your hands for a very nominal fee......

I agree that it looks right. Some of the larger molds seem to have a very lite Hensley & Gibbs stamp that can be worn off easily.

They look as real as others I've seen. I don't think anybody has ever faked that sprue plate..

And some early moulds weren't marked on the blocks as all, but had the makers mark on the handles instead.

You are correct. I took a magnifying glass and found the mark. It was extremely light.

Thanks to all that responded.

It looks just like the 8 banger I have.

In their day, the H&G moulds were the best to be had. I still have a few of them, most notably my six cavity H&G #251 (148 gr. dbl ended wadcutter) and a four cavity #50 bb (a 148 gr. button nosed wadcutter). The six cavity weighs nearly five lbs. with handles and is very fatiguing to this ol' man. As a result the four cavity is my "go to" casting machine for my .38 Specials (and target work with my .357's, of course).

I have a four cavity .45 ACP mould for the #130 that works extremely well, also. My preference is the #68 H&G but my moulds for that is a correct copy by Mihec and to be truthful, the Mihec moulds represent the "state of the art".

I also have an unmarked H&G mold, and asked about it a while back, other members agreed it's legit.

My H&G molds are the best molds that I have ever had. The quality and workmanship are superb and years of use have not diminished them in any way. I did forego a couple of 6 cavity molds; their production rate was phenomenal, but they were tiring to use for prolonged periods. I settled on 4 holers and they met my needs number-wise. LLS

I would agree. It is a real H&G mould. I have a number of them, from two cavity to 10 cavity. The best ones for my taste are the 4 cavity, with 6 cavity just behind it. You really do need a mould guide to help with the weight. The 10 cavity is an S55 n 380. I use that one for the submachinegun (MAC M11A1) and it puts out a phenominal number of bullets. It takes a good 10 casts to bring it up to temperature but once you do, look out!
I don't have a wadcutter H&G because is shoot SWC and RN bullets.

1Iron, if you have the space in your casting area you can make a 'cut, slide and drop box' for that big mould.... I have 18 of those big H&G moulds and they are easy to work with the right set up...
