OK , was loading up some 455gn RNFPGC boolits out of a Lee 2 cavity I got off their surplus page a month or so ago , looked in the Lee book for a load and nothing for a 455gn , 405 and 475gn boolits tho , so doing a little siffering I came up with a load of 30gns of 5744 and a COL of 2.725".

I then thought you better check as that , seems a little long , so I put one in the tube and walla , no workie , got it out and started shortining up the COL , again , walla , stuck again , fished it out again , finally came up with 2.600" and it works fine from the tube with that boolit .

I might be able to get .005 to .010 more length out of that load but don't want it to hang up when shooting.

So here is my question : what does everyone else get for a COL with the heavier boolits in 45-70 Marlins ?

Icer,

There is no set answer as it totally depends on which bullet/boolit you decide to use bro. I seat my boolits to touch the lands and back off .003 - .005 or so then see if they will cycle from the mag tube to the chamber.
